FLASH: There's a #TwitterMurder rumor up tonight about Glover; the usual suspects should keep a closer than usual watch on the page, and be ready to semi-protect if necessary. --Baylink (talk) 02:50, 24 July 2010 (UTC)[reply]

I haven't edited Wikipedia pages before so I just wanted to alert others there is a bad hyperlink under Danny Glover's film credits... specifically: Grand Canyon (2001), links to the literal Grand Canyon, not the 2001 film. Thanks to whomever can make the change!

Change made. Ccmhg 21:28, 21 September 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Filmography

[edit]

"Father"? Don't know if that is meant to be there, but it doesn't look like it is. —Preceding unsigned comment added by 98.204.146.137 (talk) 07:27, 18 July 2009 (UTC)[reply]

communist

[edit]

It keeps popping up that Glover is a communist... I can find no reference for that, and I suspect people are just angry because of his association with Hugo Chavez. Please cite a source or stop it... WP is not your soapbox. --Grahamtalk/mail/e 17:50, 25 September 2006 (UTC)[reply]

I think the claim is made because he has (small c) communist beliefs. He apparently is not a member of any (large c) Communist organizations. It would be fair to say that Glover shares charistically communistbelief s, but some communist leaning quotes should be included. Angloguy 18:46, 15 January 2010 (UTC)[reply]
It doesn't belong unless you are going to add "communist" to a million other bibliographical articles here starting with Moses and Jesus and including Thomas Jefferson and Hamilton based on some quotes one might interpret as "characteristically communist." 71.252.36.13 (talk) 13:24, 16 January 2010 (UTC)[reply]

criticism for appearing with Chavez

[edit]

OK, I can't find a single non-right-wing source of any criticism for Glover's appearance with Chavez. (Sure, FOX News dinged him, but they pretty much criticize everyone left of center.) If you want to make your "across the spectrum" claim, provide a citation. --Grahamtalk/mail/e 18:11, 30 September 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Depends on your perspective. For some people, anyone to the right of Mao is "right-wing." Check up on the raid on Caracas' only Jewish primary school by Chavez' SWAT team. The kids were held hostage for hours. Now the Jews are leaving Venuzuela in droves. But then, they're just little Zionists, right? Scott Adler 04:28, 30 June 2007 (UTC)[reply]
What in the name of fuck does that have to with the question at hand? —Preceding unsigned comment added by 217.210.129.142 (talk) 22:19, 13 September 2007 (UTC)[reply]
First of all, your insistence that certain media sources are not fit to use in Wikipedia because they are "right wing" is biased. Your POV standards are not to be found in the rules for Wikipedia. Second, a simple Google search will pull up DOZENS of stories about Glover's relationship with Chavez. There are even pictures of the two men hugging, and all of Hollywood is aware of the $18 million Chavez has offered up to make Glover's film about the 1791 uprising in Haiti. Unless Time.com is "right wing," perhaps you could begin there? http://www.time.com/time/world/article/0,8599,1624992,00.html —Preceding unsigned comment added by 76.126.226.142 (talk) 21:42, 16 May 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Removal of category/Dispute

[edit]

A user:Grazon recent removed Category:American anti Iraq War activists, citing that hes against all wars. furthermore he was been removing LOTS of people from there categories.Qrc2006 03:04, 15 October 2006 (UTC)[reply]

He did it again, this time he cited that hes against all wars, so what, i can be against war 1 and war 2, that doesnt mean i dont belong in both categories just becuasue im against more then one.

* A) Believe that the Iraq War was illegal and/or immoral from the beginning; or

  • B) Believe that the Iraq War is being waged incompetently or immorally, and have become publicly known as critics of the war or the justifications used to launch it.[1]

this is the criteria for inclusion in this cateogry, he clearly fits it. end of discussion. this guy keeps on removing people from this cateogry for dubious reasons i dont know what his motivations are, but theyre not constructive, i think he should be blocked again.

"Conservative media"?

[edit]

There is a line in this wiki that states:

"His role in this capacity and resulting interaction with Venezuelan president Hugo Chavez have drawn criticism for Glover from the conservative media."

Then it goes on to quote a Fox News Channel story. Firstly, Chavez' and Glover's relationship has drawn criticism from all media and secondly, Fox News Channel is not a conservative news channel, contrary to what some say.

Folks, please leave the editorials out when you edit a wiki.

Does Glover share Chavez' racial views?Scott Adler 23:17, 2 February 2007 (UTC)[reply]

I'm sorry to keep this going but this line ((Fox News Channel is not a conservative news channel, contrary to what some say)) made me laugh out loud. Anyone who thinks otherwise is ignorant. Now, what are we arguing about again, anything relevant to this wikipedia article??? Hmm, I thought so. Milonica (talk) 08:47, 19 February 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Yes, Fox News Channel is a conservative news channel. In fact it's very conservative. 75.76.213.106 (talk) 03:53, 31 January 2011 (UTC)[reply]

Black Students Union

[edit]

Is there any attribution to Glover's membership or leadership in the "Black Students Union" of San Francisco State? It's a very, very serious charge and should be either attributed or removed. Scott Adler 23:17, 2 February 2007 (UTC)[reply]

I just found it here [2]. I will put it (or a better reference) in the article soon. Garion96 (talk) 23:19, 2 February 2007 (UTC)[reply]
Reference added (SFSU press release). --skew-t 00:45, 4 February 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Having been a member of a BSU is not a "charge" any more than having been a member of a fraternity would be! And why is Glover's attending SF State not mentioned in the article? — Preceding unsigned comment added by 85.70.133.86 (talk) 21:19, 11 November 2011 (UTC)[reply]

Health Issues

[edit]

Is Mr. Glover suffering health issues beyond the epilepsy mentioned in the article? I ask since he suffers a speech impedament throughout the film Shooter, starring Mark Wahlberg. -- 83.71.71.34 19:33, 20 September 2007 (UTC)[reply]

I believe if you do some searching around, you'll find it was a dental device, not dentures or anything, just some device. Even in the picture on the main article page, you can kind of see it on his bottom teeth. In late January of 2008, I saw (and heard) Danny Glover at the 2008 Sundance Film Festival, and his "speech impediment" wasn't present any more, although it was during the movie he was promoting (Be Kind Rewind). I don't think he is suffering from health issues, other than dental problems. Hope this helps. Milonica (talk) 08:17, 19 February 2008 (UTC)[reply]

The Real News

[edit]

Under the activism section, can we mention that he is a supporter of The Real News.

married? article inconsistent

[edit]

The infobox says that he is still married though filed for divorce while the article says he is divorced. neither has a citation. If someone knows or can do a bit of searching this should be fixed. -- Jieagles (talk) 19:19, 2 January 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Blaming Earthquake in Haiti on Global Warming

[edit]

I've add a paragraph and a reference. It seems appropriate. He did say it. It certainly seems like he would believe it. —Preceding unsigned comment added by Angloguy (talkcontribs) 00:19, 16 January 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Added "Sightings"

[edit]

Added sightings section. It's a little silly but he is a sought after celebrity. —Preceding unsigned comment added by Angloguy (talkcontribs) 12:52, 16 January 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Change title to add "(actor)

[edit]

Will soon move the article to the new title "Danny Glover (actor)". this will reduce confusion with the footballer. —Preceding unsigned comment added by Angloguy (talkcontribs) 13:19, 16 January 2010 (UTC)[reply]

There is already a hatnote at the top of the article for those looking for the footballer. There is no need for this article to be moved. Gobonobo T C 19:06, 25 January 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Described as left leaning

[edit]

This should be included in the brief description, but perhaps there is a better description than left leaning. Angloguy (talk) 16:47, 25 January 2010 (UTC)[reply]

I've changed the sentence in the intro that said He is very active in and strongly supports what are usually described as left leaning political causes. to say He is very active in and strongly supports various humanitarian and political causes. Gobonobo T C 19:06, 25 January 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Incorrect film role

[edit]

Danny Glover couldn't possibly have played a grandfather in Song of the South, a 1946 film, because he was born in 1946. I'm removing it from the list. 97.115.132.174 (talk) 03:09, 29 July 2011 (UTC)[reply]

TV show from late 80's or early 90's?

[edit]

I seem to recall Danny Glover playing a role in a weird show (1 episode only) where he played a husband/father who somehow got to a parallel universe where everything was the same except the english language was all scrambled (for example, "cat" meant "Tuesday" or "bed" meant "hair"). The final scene had him reading a book to his kid and they were "learning" english together.

Anyone remember any of this or is this my own hallucination? I dont recall the name of the show and i didnt find anything like this here or on imdb. — Preceding unsigned comment added by 77.125.126.229 (talk) 14:41, 26 February 2013 (UTC)[reply]

Funds from Venezuelan government

[edit]

In this section, the references don't support the assertions of the article. "However, the movie was not made and the money has not been returned, and the Venezuelan media has called for Glover to explain what he did with the money" - the "Venezuelan media" refers to Maduradas, which credits La Patilla. Neither is a reliable source, (see here: Maduradas home page, translated to English and the (unattributed) La Patilla story is about President Madura NOT asking Danny Glover to return the funds he was allegedly given. ((translated to English) This doesn't constitute "the Venezuelan media." The only other references to Glover receiving and/not returning the funds is from an unattributed AP story in the Daily NewsLatino. I couldn't find the article on the AP site, anywhere; even if I had it would defy logic. If Danny Glover had taken $18 million from the Venuzuelan government to produce a film that was never made and did not return the money it would be a huge story, and the only sources for it would not be those previously mentioned.JSFarman (talk) 18:46, 16 August 2017 (UTC)[reply]
