Fair use rationale for Image:Northern bank logo.png

Image:Northern bank logo.png is being used on this article. I notice the image page specifies that the image is being used under fair use but there is no explanation or rationale as to why its use in this Wikipedia article constitutes fair use. In addition to the boilerplate fair use template, you must also write out on the image description page a specific explanation or rationale for why using this image in each article is consistent with fair use.

Please go to the image description page and edit it to include a fair use rationale. Using one of the templates at Wikipedia:Fair use rationale guideline is an easy way to insure that your image is in compliance with Wikipedia policy, but remember that you must complete the template. Do not simply insert a blank template on an image page.

If there is other fair use media, consider checking that you have specified the fair use rationale on the other images used on this page. Note that any fair use images uploaded after 4 May, 2006, and lacking such an explanation will be deleted one week after they have been uploaded, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. If you have any questions please ask them at the Media copyright questions page. Thank you.

Flags

I noted recent edits by an anonymous user to insert flags into the infobox template on this and a few other Irish banks. They're very nice and I personally don't have a problem with them, but I would advise that for any Ireland-related articles, sticking flags of any hue into articles is likely to cause trouble. It doesn't mean that the flag isn't correct, but there are big issues with using flags in this part of the world (in case you hadn't heard...). Inserting a flag into an Ireland-related article can be seen by some as an emotive statement. The simple solution is to simply leave them off any of these articles. See Northern Ireland flags issue and Wikipedia:Manual of Style (flags). 14:44, 17 July 2008 (UTC)

File:NorthernBankNI20.png Nominated for speedy Deletion

An image used in this article, File:NorthernBankNI20.png, has been nominated for speedy deletion for the following reason: Wikipedia files with no non-free use rationale as of 3 December 2011

What should I do?

Don't panic; you should have time to contest the deletion (although please review deletion guidelines before doing so). The best way to contest this form of deletion is by posting on the image talk page.

  • If the image is non-free then you may need to provide a fair use rationale
  • If the image isn't freely licensed and there is no fair use rationale, then it cannot be uploaded or used.
  • If the image has already been deleted you may want to try Deletion Review

Danske Bank redirect

The following discussion is an archived discussion of the proposal. Please do not modify it. Subsequent comments should be made in a new section on the talk page. No further edits should be made to this section.

The result of the proposal was moved (for historical interest, the move was from Northern Bank). --BDD (talk) 23:23, 5 December 2013 (UTC)

Danske Bank (Northern Ireland)Danske Bank (Northern Ireland) – The Northern Bank name is no longer in use and it is now trading Danske Bank. Shouldn't the article reflect this? Cnbrb (talk) 17:26, 28 November 2013 (UTC)

The Danske Bank (Northern Ireland) article has been redirected to Northern Bank, an article which explains that Northern Bank is no longer called Northern Bank but Danske Bank. Pretty confusing really! There may be a good reason to merge, but I'd say a merge in the other direction would make much more sense. Cnbrb (talk) 21:02, 2 July 2013 (UTC)

PS the previous page move seems to have been incomplete - this talk page is headed Talk:Danske Bank (Northern Ireland) even though the main article is Northern Bank. Either way, it needs to be fixed. (The article and talk page have now been "re-married") I vote for moving everything onto Danske Bank (Northern Ireland) but what do other editors think? Cnbrb (talk) 17:26, 28 November 2013 (UTC)
