Henry Campbell-Bannerman?

[edit]

I assume he's a descendant of the former Prime Minister Henry Campbell-Bannerman? Should this not be clarified? CulturalSnow (talk) 06:26, 14 November 2014 (UTC)[reply]

I was just thinking the same LeapUK (talk) 06:40, 15 August 2015 (UTC)[reply]

Mention of the alleged kinship was removed from the article in 2013 as unsourced. He certainly isn't a descendant: Sir Henry and Lady Campbell-Bannerman had no children. Opera hat (talk) 05:36, 18 August 2015 (UTC)[reply]
There is some (negative and perhaps in other respects defamatory) description and commentary at [1], essentially suggesting that while Henry was born with the surname Campbell later adding Bannerman (his mother's maiden name) to inherit from an uncle, David was born with the surname Bannerman with given names David Campbell, possibly making the relationship (if any) one of cousins through the Bannermans.--Rumping (talk) 13:43, 28 October 2015 (UTC)[reply]
It does seem improbable, as Henry Campbell-Bannerman began life as Campbell and his brother was James Alexander Campbell. A descendant of J. A. Campbell's son might perhaps have added "Bannerman", but for some reason DCB does not give his parents' names in Who's Who, which is unusual. I have edited the article to say he claims to be related, which it seems he does. Moonraker (talk) 00:44, 11 July 2024 (UTC)[reply]
