More info[edit]

Added some biographical information and edited a bit. Dr. Perfessor (talk) 22:05, 20 October 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Moved the model of a political system from top of this page to top of article on David Easton's model/Theories becasue it has more to do with the model than with his biography. Dr. Perfessor (talk) 21:52, 26 October 2008 (UTC)[reply]

I noticed you practically copy pasted the text from Eastons website at UCI, which is unacceptable here. Now I have tried to rewrite some of it, removed the rest, and added the source. -- Marcel Douwe Dekker (talk) 23:48, 16 February 2009 (UTC)[reply]
Please note WP:Civility in your comments. I did not write the article. It was written by someone else long before I began editing on Wikipedia. Dr. Perfessor (talk) 02:01, 17 February 2009 (UTC)[reply]
I am refering to this edit, which seems plagiarism to me because you didn't added the source. It seems you practically copy pasted the homepage info here without given any source. As far as I know this is really not acceptable. Please correct me if I misinterprete the situation here. -- Marcel Douwe Dekker (talk) 02:16, 17 February 2009 (UTC)[reply]
I see. And have you "assumed good faith" in the matter? Apparently not if you begin communications with an accusation. Yet the text you refer to only totals 243 words including the words I added, which is well within the "fair use" provisions of copyright law, and the source was published as a link on the bottom of the same page. Moreover, it does not approach plagiarism because I did not claim those words as my own, a key prerequisite for plagiarism.
Perhaps you should remove all the sources to his publications as well, because I did not cite WorldCat where I got them? People like you are one reason my user page says "retired" and I am no longer active on Wikipedia. Lighten up a little, please, lest you drive away editors Wikipedia needs. Dr. Perfessor (talk) 19:49, 17 February 2009 (UTC)[reply]
As far as I know if one copy/paste text within the "fair use" provisions of copyright law, one should still add the source with particular care. See also Wikipedia:Citing sources. Just mentioning the source as an external link won't do. -- Marcel Douwe Dekker (talk) 20:27, 17 February 2009 (UTC)[reply]

WikiProject Systems/Assessment[edit]

In general, anyone can add or change an article's rating, but so far I have balanced the assessment rating of all about 1750+ articles in the Wikiproject system.

People really important in the field are such as Niklas Luhmann and Talcott Parsons are rated high. Less prominent scientists involved are rated mid or low. Often the lenght and content of the article can give an indication. If an article is a stub like this and there is not much discussion on the talkpage the scientist, this is an indication that the persom is less prominent. This is just the overall logic I have applied.

So if you Mervyn Emrys want to contribute here, please improve the article. Not just change the WikiProject rating. If nobody more important in political systems theory, as you say, this article should explain. If this is a common opinion, than there should be enough reliabele sources to explain his work and his influence. I think this article needs to explain more. -- Marcel Douwe Dekker (talk) 02:40, 18 February 2009 (UTC)[reply]

P.S. Now I did some checking and found your opinion confirmed. I will update the importance rate.

Thank you. Mervyn Emrys (talk) 22:04, 18 February 2009 (UTC)[reply]
Added considerable information, sections, references, info box and categories. Where more than one sentence from same source, cited source at end of paragraph only. Mervyn Emrys (talk) 01:15, 19 February 2009 (UTC)[reply]
Thanks, it is a good start. Maybe I can translate some of the German article about his work next week. -- Marcel Douwe Dekker (talk) 13:49, 19 February 2009 (UTC)[reply]
Added descriptions by others of his work and role in political science with references and removed tag. Mervyn Emrys (talk) 17:54, 11 April 2009 (UTC)[reply]
Great work, thanks. -- Marcel Douwe Dekker (talk) 22:55, 22 April 2009 (UTC)[reply]
