Date of Birth[edit]

As per WP:DOB (a section of the WP:BLP policy) I have removed the uncited exact date of birth from the article. It should not be restored unless it is not only cited, but cited to a source or soures which make it clear that the date has been widely published, or else published with the subject's approval. This might be clear if the sources is itself notable and widely published, or if there are multiple reliable sources, or if the sources says or plainly implies that the date was published with the subject's consent, or in other ways. The day and month of birth of a living person are of little encyclopedic value, while making them public can contribute to identity theft and other problems. The year suffices to place the subject in chronological context. See WT:BLP#Dates of birth and info boxes for discussion. DES (talk) 20:09, 22 August 2015 (UTC)[reply]

Adding a citation[edit]

I tried to add a citation, for the statement about the Billboard's Critic's Choice award. But the link I wanted to add, to www.examiner.com/article/interview-with-musicians-david-helpling-and-jon-jenkins-on-the-crossing, was rejected as examiner.com is blacklisted. Maproom, according to Examiner.com and MediaWiki talk:Spam-whitelist/Common requests the site Examiner.com is basically a collection of blogs with no editorial oversight whatsoever. Moreover, it pays contributors on a by-the-byte basis, giving them an incentive to post as much volume as possible, and no incentive to spend time checking anything. Therefore it is normally not considered a reliable source. If Justin Tedaldi has a particularly good rep he might be reliable personally, and we could request whitelisting. But I am seeing other requests for whitelisting of specific pages from Examiner.com being denied at MediaWiki talk:Spam-whitelist. Can't we source this award directly to Billboard? Also, as an interview, all but the intro here is WP:PRIMARY so it is of limited use anyway. DES (talk) 12:46, 23 August 2015 (UTC)[reply]
