David Joyce was a mid 19th century industrialist and lumber baron who established an extensive enterprise consisting of railroads, sawmills, forest property and retail outlets located in Iowa, Minnesota, Wisconsin and Texas. His grandson, David Stanley Joyce had a relationship with Peggy Hopkins Joyce that became the basis for the movie, "Gentlemen Prefer Blondes".
