Dawdon is NOT an area of Seaham. It was formed as a seperate community, but urban sprawl has joined the two areas together.Seahamlass 21:41, 4 October 2007 (UTC)

I concur with the above. Dawdon was created as a seperate pit village from Seaham while the pit was being sunk in 1900. Rows of colliery cottages were built around the pit from 1910, while the Church of St Hild and St Helen, known as “The Pitmen’s Cathedral” was erected by the Londonderry family in 1912.80.176.190.43 08:45, 5 October 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Start class

[edit]

I have rated the article as start class as is will need some references and inline citations before becoming B class. See Wikipedia:WikiProject UK geography/How to write about settlements for more tips on how to improve the article. Epbr123 (talk) 14:42, 1 February 2008 (UTC)[reply]

bias commentary

[edit]

This commentary ignores my exploitation at the hands of the coal owners. My father died collecting coal from a disused railway line. He was 76 and had spent45 years down the pit. If the coal owners gave the miners anything it is only what they had stolen from them in the first place. This can be proved empirically with economic analysis. The miners were proud and hard working and the coal owners were parasites. This write up is an insult to their memory — Preceding unsigned comment added by Vin-xminer (talkcontribs) 13:24, 8 May 2012 (UTC)[reply]
