moved, twice?

[edit]

The building was apparently became known as the Log Cabin Club House, and was located at 360 6th Avenue, NE, in Dawson. It can be seen in Google Street view currently, with image capture from June 2013. This source, right now continues to assert that is its location and available for rent. I am confused now, whether it is established that this was moved from 311 address to 360 address, or whether there was a renumbering of the street (including changing odd side to even side???).

User:Bubba73 has recently photographed the building, and added to the article that "As of 2018, it had been moved to the southwest corner of 7th Avenue and Stonewall Street." Which, per Google maps, is a different location than 360 6th Avenue address. Does this mean it was moved twice? I think there is no source specifically mentioning any move at all. I added a note reflecting confusion here to wp:NRIS info issues GA. It would be good to nail this down better. How can the building be available for rent still at a former location? --Doncram (talk) 22:59, 5 November 2018 (UTC)[reply]

I don't know if the change from 311 to 360 6th was an actual move or a renumbering of the street. When I looked at the satellite view a few weeks ago, I remember there being a lot of trees around it at the 360 address. I don't think that it could have been moved there as a whole, but I could be wrong. It might have been disassembled for a move. The photo of it in the source you link to is not where it is now (I'm pretty sure), based on the vegetation and the location of the stone with the HRHP plaque (which is now between the house and the intersection). Someone could contact them at the email on that website: terrell.historic@gmail.com . Bubba73 You talkin' to me? 00:29, 6 November 2018 (UTC)[reply]
The TCHPS (Terrell County Historic Preservation Society) source photo is clearly the same as can be seen in Google Street View at 360 6th Ave, by the vegetation and the stone with plaque being directly in front of the house, and everything else. Contacting someone there is a good idea, to ask about number and dates of moves, etc. I just tried phoning, and left a message asking for a call-back, to the contact person and phone number given in the source. --Doncram (talk) 00:47, 6 November 2018 (UTC)[reply]
I had a bit of trouble finding it. I wrote down 360 5th ave in my notes and put in that address. It wasn't there. I saw the post office, so I went in to ask. I said that I was looking for a log cabin at that address. They said that they don't have addresses on 5th ave. I don't know why they didn't connect it to the new location, since it is less than 1 block N and about 3 blocks W. They suggested that I ask at city hall. Then I looked up the county listing, and saw that it was 6th ave. We were going down that, when I spotted it on 7th. Bubba73 You talkin' to me? 00:59, 6 November 2018 (UTC)[reply]
My guess is that 311 -> 360 was a renumbering. Bubba73 You talkin' to me? 01:07, 6 November 2018 (UTC)[reply]
Thanks, including for your extensive effort to find the place. The existence of an oldish looking house at 311 supports that. For what it's worth, the Google Streetview (image captured June 2013) of the southwest corner at 7th & Stonewall shows a run-down, overgrown building that presumably was demolished. The Streetview shows a decrepit sign for "Cat's Meow: A Ladies' Boutique". There is a weirdly short/stubby stop sign there, which has survived to appear in one or more of the new pics. Clearly the building was moved between 2013 and now, that much is sure. --Doncram (talk) 01:12, 6 November 2018 (UTC)[reply]

@Doncram: Did you find out about the movement and address changes? Bubba73 You talkin' to me? 02:01, 17 November 2018 (UTC)[reply]

@Doncram: I emailed them and finally heard back. They think that the original difference in address was a typographical error (311 vs. 360, I think). It was moved to the corner of 7th and Stonewall in October 2017. They are doing some maintenance on the building. Bubba73 You talkin' to me? 02:39, 9 December 2018 (UTC)[reply]
