Verifying Some Information[edit]

This page lists Steve Jobs and Steve Wozniak (founders of Apple Computer) as De Anza College alumni, but there is no mention of this in the biographical articles on them. Jobs attended Reed College but did not graduate; Wozniak attended UC Berkeley, dropped out, then returned and finished later. Miahavero 04:16, 4 October 2007 (UTC)[reply]

According to the article, the Flint Center was home to the San Jose Spiders of the (now defunct) NWBL. This is hard to verify, since the NWBL no longer exists, but it seems unlikely. The Flint Center is an auditorium/concert hall. The team probably played at the De Anza gymnasium. Miahavero 04:22, 4 October 2007 (UTC)[reply]

A citation has been added re: Steve Wozniak attending De Anza. However so far no one has been able to find a citation for the claim Steve Jobs attended as well. Someone added a citation of http://www.buzzle.com/editorials/4-26-2005-69111.asp but this does not mention De Anza, only Reed. I don't think Jobs *did* go to De Anza. At what point do we just remove that line? Awk (talk) 03:51, 12 March 2008 (UTC)[reply]

I don't have any sources to disprove it, but I'm fairly certain Steve Jobs didn't attend De Anza. 75.36.162.225 (talk) —Preceding comment was added at 05:53, 13 March 2008 (UTC)[reply]

I removed the citation about Jobs NOT attending De Anza. I'll do some research in the next few days and delete the line if I can't find any confirmation. If anyone finds support for that claim let me know, or just add the line back in with a citation. --Blackpoms (talk) 06:24, 20 September 2008 (UTC)[reply]

I can't find any citations to prove that Steve Jobs did attend De Anza College, although it is a word of mouth that he did attend for one or two minor classes but not as a full time student. Is there anyway we can obtain proof from the school officials?--Wickedpedia.ngm (talk) 05:30, 15 March 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Wozniak writes about attending in iWoz pp.70-84. Jobs attended a 2 semesters in the 70's. StrayBolt (talk) 06:13, 7 April 2017 (UTC)[reply]

Rape Case[edit]

I think the rape case should be mentioned in this article. It was pretty notable and got De Anza some attention in the national media. --Blackpoms (talk) 06:15, 20 September 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Yes the De Anza rape case was mentioned but in a separate article.I'm not sure why they did that but I think someone should edit a link from this page Here's the article 2007 De Anza rape investigation —Preceding unsigned comment added by Wickedpedia.ngm (talkcontribs) 05:33, 15 March 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Visual & Performing Arts Center[edit]

I think there needs to be more info added about the Visual & Performing Arts Center aka the VPAC. It's pretty new at De Anza and an update would be nice to know. Richardcatalan (talk) 06:01, 16 June 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Kirsch Center & other mentionable items[edit]

This article does not even mention the platinum rated Kirsch Center. As a leading example of sustainability buildings and behaviors, it should definitely have its own section.

This article needs an updating and needs to at least mention:

-more about the shared governance system -leadership institutions that other colleges do not yet have. - vast diversity we have on campus- demographics? - some popular student services

Lulu7bb (talk) 02:32, 16 March 2011 (UTC)[reply]

I want to add something in this section about the different environmental settings that were built behind the Kirsch Center -- does anyone know of a source that talks about it? The De Anza website doesn't seem to mention it. Kaefischer (talk) 21:25, 17 June 2012 (UTC)[reply]

NASA Internship[edit]

It is tricky to find the link for the application on the De Anza College website. The search engine that is provided is a key word search so you might have to change your wording in order to find the correct information. Eco Pass[edit]

I'm going to add a section about the new Eco Pass program. Does anybody have any information further than what is on the school website regarding Eco Pass? http://www.deanza.edu/ecopass/ ShermanCory (talk) 20:49, 1 December 2011 (UTC)[reply]

Adjusting the page by adding few more facts.[edit]

I'm planning to contribute to the page by adding the follwing facts: The page should also talk about the De Anza College clubs origin, activities, contribution and schedule link. De Anza club catagories: •Academics •Community Service •Diversity •Political •Religious •Special Interest •Sports •Support Also noting the fact that there is one club day every quarter. In addition, the statement in the De Anza wiki page "One of the well known internships they have available to its students is at the NASA Ames Research Center." is not true anymore because of the budget cuts it has been revoked. But the OTI ( Occupational Training Institute ) in deanza is still active and provides internship for computer major studens in one of its program called CalTechs. March in March[edit]

I was a member of students rights and services committee, a part of the De Anza senate and I'm planning to add an example of what SRS has done in this past year, like help organize and bring students to the March in March. March in March is a united movement that took place in Sacramento that brings together students of California colleges to remind the local government of it's "commitment to accessible, low-cost higher education drives innovation and allows Californians of any socioeconomic background to pursue higher learning." The student rights and services committee helped educate students about the movement, and provided food and transportation to and from the capitol city. Motto?[edit]

The article gives no motto for the college. I found conflicting sources online:

We’ll change your life, You’ll change the world.

Educational Opportunity for All.

Just what you need.

Affiliated institution Foothill College: Upgrade. Advance.

I'm guessing it has no motto. Vaughan Pratt (talk) 04:17, 12 February 2015 (UTC)[reply]

DEI firing[edit]

Recently (first half of 2023) there has been a fair amount of press about the firing of Tabia Lee (e.g., https://www.sfchronicle.com/politics/article/tabia-lee-lawsuit-18197879.php, https://www.newsweek.com/dei-college-director-fired-not-being-right-kind-black-person-1813481, https://www.insidehighered.com/news/2023/03/10/equity-director-targeted-she-says-questioning-antiracist-orthodoxy), the director of the school's DEI program. Should this be included in the article?Kdammers (talk) 00:05, 6 August 2023 (UTC)[reply]

ABOSOLUTLY should be included. This dei "program" has shown its true colors 173.246.195.66 (talk) 03:17, 12 January 2024 (UTC)[reply]
