Ernest Hall's grandson

[edit]

Irrelevant to the article. I'm removing it. Bkpip (talk) 08:27, 1 March 2008 (UTC)[reply]

I've altered a few statements on this article, although it still contains a number of errors and loose observations (surely Dean Clough is on the West side of Halifax!). I'm the Dean Clough arts director and while the errors are understandable (they are widely reported, so citations - especially in the local press - do not necessarily carry much authority) it was about time they were put right. If anyone is concerned enough to review the text again they might like to know that Sir Ernest Hall retired from Dean Clough Ltd in 2007. It would be beyond the scope of my authority but Crossley's Carpets 'merged' (it was more of a take-over) with Carpets International at some point in the 70's. The history here does not make that clear. The site that was acquired by the consortium of shareholders that became Dean Clough Ltd in 1983 included most of the original Crossley Carpet mills, but also several other mills that had been built by other historic companies. A prime instance of the latter would be 'Bowling Dyke Mill', which is a significant building constructed by Edward Akroyd. There is a book - The Crossley Inheritance - written by Eric Webster that can be obtained from Dean Clough. The website is www.deanclough.com. 86.141.156.33 (talk) 04:18, 21 January 2010 (UTC)[reply]
