Birthday

[edit]

Was Dean born on November 7/1903 or November 17/1903? Hotwine8 04:10, 11 August 2006 (UTC)[reply]

His Social Security number (562-16-4844) says November 7.--Fallout boy 18:12, 29 August 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Birthplace dispute

[edit]

All sources I have seen, including "The Film Encyclopedia," state that Dean Jagger was born in Lima, Ohio, but reared (or "raised," if you prefer to equate men with livestock)in Columbus Grove, Ohio and other localities later on. I myself am from near Lima, Ohio, and always heard that Dean was born there and I believe the signs entering the town now say "Birthplace of Dean Jagger." By the way, Lima is a surprisingly sophisticated place with its own Public Radio station and other amenities ususally reserved for larger cities; it is pronounced LIGH-mah, not LEE-mah as in Spanish, e.g. the capital of Peru. Since I am only 99% sure of this, I have not taken the liberty to edit the article, but I think the author or someone else who is 100% certain should look into it. —Preceding unsigned comment added by Billcito (talkcontribs) 18:23, 1 September 2006

He was born in Lima, OH BUT was RAISED in Columbia City, IN. His real name IS NOT Ira Dean Jagger. It is Dean. —Preceding unsigned comment added by Elmhurstmom2009 (talkcontribs) 15:49, 3 April 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Sources disagree as to where he was born, so I've made that clear. Also, Variety is the only reliable source I could find for his full name: no Ira there. Clarityfiend (talk) 08:32, 21 November 2014 (UTC)[reply]

A significant number of sources have his birth name as "Dean Jeffries". It is possible that someone mis-read or mistyped a sentence beginning something like "Born Dean Jeffries, Jagger ..." All the best: Rich Farmbrough, 20:47, 2 July 2016 (UTC).[reply]

Education

[edit]

I've read differing accounts of Dean Jagger's education. There seems to be little disagreement about his having been a high school dropout, however,--and this is no small matter--some sources I've read have listed him as having attended and graduated from Wabash College (in Indiana), while others claim he "attended" Wabash but never took a degree. The Wiki article favors the latter.

Since Mr. Jagger often played men of distinction and education it would be good to know if he graduated from college (it seems clear that he held no graduate degrees). It would in some ways be more remarkable, and a further indication of his talent as an actor, if he was a college as well as a high school dropout. Either way, he was a skilled and gifted actor. — Preceding unsigned comment added by Telegonus (talkcontribs) 07:56, 18 August 2017 (UTC)[reply]
