Nothing about the stent?[edit]

When I heard Dean speak about innovation / inventing, he seemed to indicate the medical stent that deka made was enormously successful and profitable, yet no mention of it here? Plane crash[edit]

The jet he flies cannot travel from coast to coast[edit]

East Coast to West Coast is anywhere from 2500-3500 miles. The claim he commutes himself from coast to coast is somewhat difficult to believe. Does he stop for refueling multiple times throughout the day? Is it even plausible for him to make the commute there and back home, including stops for refueling? Dean Kamen flies a Beechcraft Premier. It doesn't have the range to go coast to coast but a lot of pilots fly light jets that have to stop for fuel and to stretch their legs along the way. This is very common since most jets that can be operated with a single pilot fall into the light jet category and will not have the range to make it coast to coast. Is that really necessary? If so, it seems oddly placed. And I guess every wiki bio needs a line like that. For George Washington Carver it could be: "George Washington Carver...blah, blah, blah..peanuts...blah, blah, blah. He was black." His inventions..?[edit]

This page does not even have a section on his inventions. To even find out that he invented the Segway, you have to look in the awards section. It doesn't even mention his iBot system, even though there is a picture of him with Clinton using it. Nothing at all on his kidney dialysis system, or his auto-syringe. I thought the same thing and searched the history for a version of the article with his inventions. I found one. It appears that it was vandalized out months ago. {{edit semi-protected}} Dean Kamen did not die on September 26th. While news reports stated the owner of Segway scooters died, Dean no longer owned the company. It was a British gentleman who owned the company and perished in a freak fall off of a cliff.

Hi. The patent you link to was filed in 2006, and issued in 2007. See Patent 5701965 (filed in 1994 and issued in 1997) for Kamen et al's patent. At least one of Kamen's earlier patents is referenced in the one that you link to. ;) -- Quiddity (talk) 23:19, 5 October 2010 (UTC)[reply]
