Overuse[edit]

'Massive' used 3 times - change at least twice. 94.195.193.37 (talk) 08:13, 7 July 2011 (UTC)[reply]

On the use of "etc."[edit]

The term "etc." is commonly used in royal titles, namely of those who had many titles and when it's only practical to list the most important. The term "etc. etc." was officially used by the Austro-Hungarian Emperor (see [1]). It's used to indicate that the titles that are mentioned are only a selection (the most important), not all his titles. Mocctur (talk) 08:32, 7 July 2011 (UTC)[reply]

Either use one title, or the other, don't use "or more correctly" as it's a weasel phrase Imasleepviking ( talk ) 00:26, 8 July 2011 (UTC)[reply]
It's not a weasel phrase. Austria-Hungary is the common term for the realm, but not the formally correct one. Nevertheless, the main article on the realm is found under that name, so it's necessary to include it. Mocctur (talk) 01:32, 8 July 2011 (UTC)[reply]

Praise/reaction[edit]

I'm not sure how NPOV is achieved by posting 1300 words of praise. Wikipedia is not a quote farm, so these numerous quotes seem out of place. They could be summarized by saying that he was eulogized by heads of state and other political leaders from across Europe and around the world.   Will Beback  talk  02:30, 12 July 2011 (UTC)[reply]

See Wikipedia:Neutral point of view/Noticeboard#Funeral articles, "Reaction" sections   Will Beback  talk  10:40, 12 July 2011 (UTC)[reply]

Reaction sections are standard practice as far as I can tell, I've seen them in other articles of this type. Reactions don't have to be merely positive (and in my opinion, the ones included in this article are not -- the official reaction by the Austrian president and chancellor emphasizing him as a "citizen" is not something he/his supporters would agree with, but it's interesting nevertheless to read how the Austrian social democrat government assesses him). The article is merely reporting widely publicized reactions from high officials, I fail to see what's wrong with that. Mocctur (talk) 10:12, 13 July 2011 (UTC)[reply]

Poorly written[edit]

Firstly the lede is akin to a mouth packed with too many teeth. It tries to get so much detail into the first few lines it has become an awful over-packed paragraphs!! Secondly throughout the article there are too many clauses created by commas, an irritating passive voice and a discernible yearning to convey solemnity and grandeur. However in doing so the tone of the article has become bombastic and turgid. This article is not a commentary of the funeral it's just about the event. Needs a top down rewrite by more neutral editors.
