"Hacked"[edit]

In the modern world, "hacking" refers primarily to interference with computers, rather than being attacked with machetes. So, why this edit? Ghmyrtle (talk) 07:20, 8 August 2015 (UTC)[reply]

It's consistent with "shot" and "stabbed", and good enough for the BBC headline and lead. Sure, it's a bit ambiguous, but that's English for you. No reasonable person should think it means the computer thing in a human death context, less than they should think "shot" means lethal injection or alcohol poisoning or that "heart attack" means clubbed with a heart. A guy working at a Spam factory had two fingers hacked off by a "meat blending mach". One was attacked in the middle of his middle finger. Another lost a pinky to an uncool cooling fan.
The only apparent homicide was by forklift, and there's no accident report or news story, only a brief note and an obit. The guy's widow called it a coverup.

Virginia shootings[edit]

Shouldn't these be grouped under one heading (as we often to with multiple deaths in the same event), as they don't have individual articles? MSJapan (talk) 05:48, 28 August 2015 (UTC)[reply]

I don't think it was a single event. Parker and Ward were killed at Smith Mountain Lake. The perp killed himself five hours later at another place. WWGB (talk),
Not precisely, but closely intertwined. That said, it seems improper to give that sort of visual weight to three people without articles. Natalia Molchanova & The 30 Day Rule[edit]

I noticed that the entry for Natalia Molchanova (presumed dead on August 2) was removed today. Is she subjected to the "30 day rule"? She has an article (which by the way lists her as dead) and there have been obituaries written for her. To me, it would seem best to leave her entry on this page, the way it was before removal, with the tag {presumed dead} rather than to delete it all together. Anyone running across it will see the "presumed" note and know what is going on. Is there a rule in place on such matters? BurienBomber (talk) 19:47, 1 September 2015 (UTC)[reply]

Because they've been officially declared dead. And I removed her not beccause of the 30 day rule, but because I've previously removed her because she's not been formally declared dead. Rusted AutoParts 20:29, 1 September 2015 (UTC)[reply]
