Andrew Koppel needs removing[edit]

He's not notable except for having a famous father...I don't remember Jett Travolta getting a mention on here and it staying here. His link on Di2010 redirects to his father, just to make it look like it's not a redlink. If he's notable as an American Lawyer, fine, but then he needs his own article or it needs removing from Di2010 87.194.86.204 (talk) 00:43, 2 June 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Whereas notability is not inherited, we normally tolerate redlinks here for about a month for those who may be notable in their own right, and a lawyer may well be so through being involved in celebrated cases. In short, unless it's a complete no-hoper, we should wait and see if anyone seems inclined to create an article. Rodhullandemu 01:30, 2 June 2010 (UTC)[reply]
My understanding was that the dead person had to have *some* claim to notability in their own right, when there is no article. I've seen many people removed for being non-notable, and this guy's death notice can't scrape up even the smallest non-inherited significance. So why treat him differently? Do we really want the deaths page overrun by the offspring and spouses when there is literally no other reason to include them?--Be best (talk) 10:32, 2 June 2010 (UTC)[reply]
I think these things can be dealt with on a case-by-case basis. In this instance, given the high-visibility of the death and his young age, I can imagine readers coming here for info. He may not warrant an article of his own, but a paragraph in his father's article is enough to include his mention on this page. As a rule, no, we shouldn't include the non-notable relatives of notable people, but there are some instances where that can be overlooked in the interests of providing information. freshacconci talktalk 11:01, 2 June 2010 (UTC)[reply]
They'll be sorely disappointed when they come for an article and find something that couldn't even be called a stub at a stretch, and a paragraph is going too far, it's a sentence...it's LITERALLY just "Andrew Koppel was found dead in a New York City apartment on May 31, 2010, reportedly after a day-long drinking binge."...Hell, *we* have talked more about it than he has in his father's article. The high visibility of his death is due to his father being famous, much like John Travolta's son Jett...not notable, not famous in his own right. 87.194.86.204 (talk) 16:05, 2 June 2010 (UTC)[reply]
Marie Osmond's son recently died at a very young age and in a very highly-visible media frenzy manner (throwing himself off a high-rise), but attempts to list him on Deaths In were yanked within minutes under WP:NOTINHERITED. And rightly so. I'm with Be best and the previous commenter on this one. There's no difference between him and this guy. I don't get the argument about "the interests of providing information" for this individual specifically when any other non-notable kid/spouse/sibling/whatever of a notable person gets short shrift.Draggleduck (talk) 00:17, 3 June 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Several sources state she died of emphysema; does anyone have a reliable source? Jim Michael (talk) 03:32, 4 June 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Both men are currently listed as "player" followed by "coach" in their respective entries. Considering that they are both MUCH more well-known for their coaching than their athletic achievements, wouldn't it make more sense for their entries to mention "coach" first? Drpickem (talk) 05:30, 5 June 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Most careers are listed chronologically, for example, lawyer -> judge. Listing coach then player suggests he was a coach first. WWGB (talk) 05:35, 5 June 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Why is she listed? She is not notable, and only has a redirect. We don't list non-notable children of notable people, so it is ridiculous to list a non-notable great-grandchild of a notable person.—Preceding unsigned comment added by Jim Michael (talkcontribs)

Agreed. Not notable per WP:NOTINHERITED and WP:SINGLEEVENT. I have removed the entry several times, and now left a hidden message. WWGB (talk) 14:03, 12 June 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Egon Ronay[edit]

His entry currently states:

I can't find a reference that he was naturalised British, but since he moved to the UK after WW2 I assume he was; in any case, he was a critic of French restaurants (in a cuisine sense) rather than a restaurant critic who happened to be of French nationality. -- Arwel Parry (talk) 16:47, 12 June 2010 (UTC)[reply]

There is disagreement over his death date: His article says 23 June, this list says 24 June. Guardian obituary says 23rd, Telegraph obit says 24th. Jim Michael (talk) 12:28, 26 June 2010 (UTC)[reply]
