Manohar Aich age?[edit]

Sources variously say he was 102, 103 and 104. As far as I know, any of those are right, but not all of them. Do we pick one, or call him 102-104? InedibleHulk (talk) 23:54, 5 June 2016 (UTC)[reply]

I've gone with 104 for now. Seems to be the most widely agreed in reliable sources. But that doesn't always make things true. InedibleHulk (talk) 00:21, 6 June 2016 (UTC)[reply]
The article Manohar Aich reports age as 102. Whatever is agreed, the death notice and the article must be consistent on his age. WWGB (talk) 03:37, 6 June 2016 (UTC)[reply]

He was 104. I have replaced with a ref that calls him 104. In the article I have added a ref that says he became centenarian in 2012. So 104 it is in 2016. §§Dharmadhyaksha§§ {Talk / Edits} 05:01, 6 June 2016 (UTC)[reply]

Seems some one disagrees with you, as it's been changed back to 102. I think I'll remove the age until it's 100% confirmed how old he was. Rusted AutoParts 11:04, 6 June 2016 (UTC)[reply]
Looking it up, 29 sources declare the age as 104. Only 10 say 102. Rusted AutoParts 16:33, 6 June 2016 (UTC)[reply]
Someone disagrees with me on Wikipedia almost every day, but it now seems roughly 97.9% confirmed that he was 104. Maybe as close as we'll get, since birth registration was optional in his day. That he didn't object to his well-publicized 100th birthday is a big enough hint for me. InedibleHulk (talk) 01:08, 7 June 2016 (UTC)[reply]

Kimbo Slice, legendary...boxer?[edit]

I'd added the "street fighter" bit first in line for Kimbo, per everything in the world noting that's what made him famous first. Rusted AutoParts decided to change that to "boxer". No reason given. I thought that a bit weird, but let it slide and simply moved this afterthought part of his career to the back. But that apparently wasn't good enough, so now he's a boxer first and foremost. As Tyson might say, that's ludicrous. Particularly when we call Ali a boxer a few lines down. Huge difference. InedibleHulk (talk) 05:51, 7 June 2016 (UTC)[reply]

Boxing career[edit]

In August 2010, Slice announced his intention to become a professional boxer. He stated "I feel like a baby all over again. I'm thinking about this at night. I'm gonna be a problem in the heavyweight division. I'm going to be coming in with a bad demeanor. I want to see what it's like to break some ribs, break a jaw with one punch. This is a career move. I love fighting. :I like to knock people the fuck out. I love engaging. Maybe some people think I'm crazy."[1]
Roy Jones, Jr. had said he would like to fight Slice, but that Slice would likely need a number of boxing matches beforehand in order to gain experience and exposure in the sport.[2]
Slice made his pro boxing debut on August 13, 2011. Slice fought in a four-round headlining attraction against 39-year-old James Wade (0-1) at the Buffalo Run Casino in Miami, Oklahoma.[3]
He won the fight via KO at 0:10 in the first round.[4]
On October 15, Slice returned to the boxing ring, defeating Tay Bledsoe (2-3) via KO in the first round.[5] On December 30, he defeated Charles Hackmann (0-1) by unanimous decision, winning three out of four rounds.[6]
Slice's next fight was in Australia on the Anthony Mundine vs Daniel Geale undercard on January 30, 2013.[7] He defeated Shane Tilyard (6-6) by TKO in the second round.[8]
There's the section I referred to on his page, the "dabble" as you put it. Considering there wasn't a section about his street fighting, which isn't what makes anyone notable, at best he'd be considered an online personality due to it, I felt it was worth noting, and at the time it was placed first in his occupation notes in the first sentence. But seeing it's so thoroughly outraged you, i'll relocate it. Rusted AutoParts 15:47, 7 June 2016 (UTC)[reply]
Thanks. Not thoroughly outraging, but something like two-thirds. You're mistaken about nobody becoming notable for street fighting, though. It's very rare, but Slice was the exception. A genuine YouTube star, lucky enough to catch on at the beginning of anything going viral. Had a Wiki article for years before his pro MMA or boxing debuts. Still in his lead and Early Career sections, and a large number of death notices have "street fighter" in the headline or lead. I'm only one-third outraged if we don't state the obvious, though. InedibleHulk (talk) 00:07, 8 June 2016 (UTC)[reply]
And yes, I stand by "dabble". It's a fairly large section, but his opponents were non-notable cans and he crushed them without much exposure. InedibleHulk (talk) 00:12, 8 June 2016 (UTC)[reply]

Jo Cox 16 June[edit]

Homicide > not a description often used within the UK and though correct the BBC has for example used the word murder already today, and the article's talk page has at the moment decided killing, not a word that would work here. Not sure what to recommend but would prefer something other than homicide. Edmund Patrick confer 09:02, 17 June 2016 (UTC)[reply]

Agree. In the UK, "homicide" is seen very much as an American English word. "Murder" would depend on the eventual legal process. "Shot/stabbed" would be most accurate as the precise cause is not yet known. Ghmyrtle (talk) 09:06, 17 June 2016 (UTC)[reply]
Thanks I agree it is factually correct so done.Edmund Patrick confer 09:08, 17 June 2016 (UTC)[reply]
As far as "shot and stabbed", would not it be one or the other? Not both? I have no idea. Just asking. Thanks. Joseph A. Spadaro (talk) 16:17, 19 June 2016 (UTC)[reply]
We would need to wait for the postmortem. Current sources say "shot and stabbed" - [1], [2], [3], [4], etc. Ghmyrtle (talk) 16:52, 19 June 2016 (UTC)[reply]
I don't know about this case, but it's possible to officially die from two wounds if both would independently be fatal, and the coroner can't tell which (if either) came post-mortem. Happened to three of the Aurora shooting twelve. InedibleHulk (talk) 17:49, 26 June 2016 (UTC)[reply]

Was listed as "1980 Eurovision Song Contest participant". While I realize the Eurovision Song Contest is most likely the predecessor to modern televised singing competitions. Kjelsberg finished 16th out of 19 participants. Not too notable, in my opinion, especially since its main page states "Winning...provides a short-term boost to the winning artists' career, but rarely results in long-term success". — Wyliepedia 17:07, 19 June 2016 (UTC)[reply]

Agreed and removed. Regards, WWGB (talk) 01:15, 20 June 2016 (UTC)[reply]

Yelchin - traffic collision[edit]

Really? Nohomersryan (talk) 00:59, 20 June 2016 (UTC)[reply]

Yes. A traffic collision occurs when "a vehicle collides with another vehicle, pedestrian, animal, road debris, or other stationary obstruction". WWGB (talk) 01:13, 20 June 2016 (UTC)[reply]
Yep, that car really needed to get out of that driveway. Too soon? If it becomes rampant, perhaps we could list the COD as "park-to-reversed"? — Wyliepedia 01:47, 20 June 2016 (UTC)[reply]
A traffic collision implies being in the car and on or near the roadway. What actually happened was that his car rolled over him, and we should just call it an accident and avoid the semantics. The definition does not fit the implication. MSJapan (talk) 08:05, 20 June 2016 (UTC)[reply]
The Wikidefinition of traffic collision makes no distinction between in or out of the car, that is just your opinion. WWGB (talk) 16:38, 20 June 2016 (UTC)[reply]
If he was run down by his tractor in the field, would it be considered a traffic collision? After all, tractors sometimes use the roads. How about if he was changing his oil and it rolled off the jack and crushed him? BurienBomber (talk) 08:57, 20 June 2016 (UTC)[reply]
What if a UFO fell out of the sky? What if..? — Wyliepedia 16:43, 20 June 2016 (UTC)[reply]

"Traffic collision" certainly does imply that the collision occurred in the course of "traffic". I don't think that putting your car in reverse or neutral in your driveway while you step out to check your mail really constitutes "traffic". Even if it's "technically correct" (which I don't think it is), it does not fulfill the spirit of giving the readers best and accurate information. Joseph A. Spadaro (talk) 17:08, 20 June 2016 (UTC)[reply]

None of this matters now, for Yelchin's COD here. — Wyliepedia 18:32, 20 June 2016 (UTC)[reply]
The universal translator indicates that means he was crushed. InedibleHulk (talk) 18:32, 21 June 2016 (UTC)[reply]

Please move Bill Ham from June 22 to either June 18 or 20[edit]

The referenced obituary does not support the June 22 date of death. Please move to either June 18, based on this obituary, or to June 20, based on this obituary. Nachruf (talk) 18:57, 30 June 2016 (UTC)[reply]

I'm moving it to the 18th, as it includes the declaration that the coroner confirmed it. Rusted AutoParts 19:02, 30 June 2016 (UTC)[reply]
Would it also make sense to change the linked obituary to this one, which provided the date of death? Nachruf (talk) 02:33, 1 July 2016 (UTC)[reply]
The latter obituary comes from a self-admitted blog, which as I understand it are not considered the most reliable sources. I would have thought Billboard site would override that one. 86.113.29.206 (talk) 22:19, 4 July 2016 (UTC)[reply]
