Durbin's European daughter?

[edit]

Christine Durbin, 40, American daughter of Sen. Dick Durbin, congenital heart condition

Amusing, but no, the word is not there to differentiate between Durbin's daughters of different ethnicities, but rather to indicate her nationality. It's not ideal wording, but then again "daughter" is not really an ideal claim to notability either. So i'd wager that what will probably happen is that someone will either add a more specific role for Ms Durbin ("American [x], daughter of...") or she will eventually be removed from the list as not being sufficiently notable. Cheers, tomasz. 11:05, 7 November 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Dick Durbin's notability is WP:NOTINHERITED, his daughter's death is WP:ONEEVENT. Cannot see any notability associated with Christine Durbin. WWGB (talk) 02:55, 8 November 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Just wondering: 247,000 hits on google for Christine Durbin and 16 years with the U.S. Department of Agriculture. Would this qualify as notable? Ka'Jong (PM) 3:10 (EST) 8 November 2008
Well, the number is more like 300 Ghits, not 247 000, and going to work everyday does not constitute notability. Anyway, notability is best resolved if someone writes an article and it is tested under speedy deletion, proposed deletion or articles for deletion. WWGB (talk) 23:04, 9 November 2008 (UTC)[reply]

I can't speak to her notability, but, as I've mentioned before, a comma after her country of citizenship would have prevented the confusion that began this line of enquiry. --Blake the bookbinder (talk) 18:52, 10 November 2008 (UTC)[reply]

or just add a proper role for her, thus preventing the confusion and the loss of style resulting from adding the comma. if i was adding her i'd have probably used "American civil servant, daughter of Dick Durbin" tbh. tomasz. 19:05, 10 November 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Miriam Makeba - You only live twice

[edit]

I'd love to have two lives, as Miriam Makeba apparently has had. Listed as dying on both 9th and 10th November. How do you settle that? —Preceding unsigned comment added by Raghuvansh r (talkcontribs) 06:51, 10 November 2008 (UTC)[reply]

EDIT The NYT says she died Monday morning, so I'm taking her out of the list on the 10th, though it appears she may have died on Sunday night, because that's when she collapsed in a concert.. Anyone with better information, please correct me if I'm wrong!Raghuvansh (talk) 06:55, 10 November 2008 (UTC)[reply]
Well, she may have died Sunday night, but I wouldn't say "it appears" that way. All we have to go on is what the NYT reported: "early Monday". I've moved her to 10 November. -- JackofOz (talk) 22:12, 10 November 2008 (UTC)[reply]

There is a link to this person's death on November 12th on the Deaths in 2008 article. But, there are no links at the person's article. Can anybody help? Pandyu (talk) 02:37, 17 November 2008 (UTC)[reply]

I'm not sure what you are asking for but I went ahead and added the reference source to the article, if that's what you wanted. DoubleBlue (Talk) 04:29, 17 November 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Can anybody find good sources to prove this man's death and add it to the article? I can't find any. Pandyu (talk) 17:30, 23 November 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Duplicate for Kiyoshi Itō

[edit]

Kiyoshi Itō is listed on the 10th and the 17th. --144.53.251.2 (talk) 01:33, 25 November 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Good pickup! The Japan Times reported on 15 November that he died on the 10th, so he can't have died on the 17th. I have deleted that entry. WWGB (talk) 03:07, 25 November 2008 (UTC)[reply]
