John Fancy, a.k.a. "Mole"

[edit]

On October 3 2008, it was announced that John Fancy, a man who served in World War Two and was nicknamed "The Mole", died - I did not see an article on him in Wikipedia, but perhaps we could start one. More information about him is on the BBC website. ACEOREVIVED (talk) 23:11, 3 October 2008 (UTC)[reply]

What normally happens here is that deaths are reported for people who are not obviously notable to begin with, and that generates articles for them. To sustain an article, he would have to be notable in some way. Feel free to add his death, with a reliable source, and those interested (although it may only be you) will create the article. Otherwise, custom seems to be that non-notable deaths are removed after about a month if their notability isn't established. --Rodhullandemu 23:19, 3 October 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Jennifer Hudson

[edit]

Jennifer Hudson's mother and brother were shot dead on October 24. The news is in the Jennifer Hudson article. Should they be added to this list, even though they were not famous? 66.56.26.75 (talk) 01:34, 25 October 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Clearly, no. The list is about notable people who've died. The fact that a notable person's mother's death makes it into the papers, where a non-notable person's mother's death doesn't, doesn't qualify the first mother as notable for our purposes. -- JackofOz (talk) 01:41, 25 October 2008 (UTC)[reply]

So why are they listed under #24? 66.56.26.75 (talk) 01:47, 25 October 2008 (UTC)[reply]

They're not anymore, and they should never have been listed in the first place. -- JackofOz (talk) 01:58, 25 October 2008 (UTC)[reply]
Yes, already removed twice, and will continue to be. WWGB (talk) 01:59, 25 October 2008 (UTC)[reply]
