1. Source for "...has been called a breakthrough in deep learning"

I checked the source given for "has been called a breakthrough in deep learning" but the word 'breakthrough' doesn't occur in the paper. Perhaps a different source is needed or a rewording of the statement. — Preceding unsigned comment added by Maitchison (talkcontribs)

Here is an example of Deep belief networks being used with Lambertian reflectance as part of the initiative to improve Apple Maps. It is what led me to this page. Contrast / Compare belief network vs neural net

Hi to a non-expert like me it is not quite clear whether the DBN is similar / the same to what is commonly referred to as a (deep) neural network.
