For now this is categorized as an European martial art due to its founder. Shawnc 06:20, 20 November 2005 (UTC)[reply]

Someone needs to improve their spelling in that article.

How was Fairbairn at the Kodokan in Tokyo, Japan when he was a Police Chief in Shanghai China? The boat still takes a little while back and forth. Air travel wasn't that big.

Cleanup and Dubious Remarks

[edit]

I wikified this article to the best of my ability. However, it still requires a lot of work, especially dealing with sources, in order to achieve at least an acceptable level of quality. And in my opinion, I don't imagine someone being able to take down almost any opponent when I think of "unarmed combat". -- VegitaU 20:59, 23 June 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Defendu Vs. Defendo

[edit]

Hi all. There is an ongoing attempt to erase Underwood from Wikipedia. The two systems both deserve to be on here, so before reverting Defendo to be a mirror of this article, let's have discussion first so we can find a way to make this work. --Mista-X (talk) 20:43, 27 October 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Actually Defendu does not exist itself. Fairbairn has never used this name. He called his system "gutterfighting" or "foul fighting"

Defendo is a system made by Bill Underwood. There is no connection beetwen the Defendu and Defendo. The problem exist because William Wolfe named Defendo his system base on Fairbairn techniques and hapkido. Underwood's Defendo was named Combato in first years. — Preceding unsigned comment added by 80.5.76.225 (talk) 07:36, 23 February 2012 (UTC)[reply]
