Please Bear In Mind

I have been following this page over quite some time and it clearly going from bad to worse. It reads like a poor quality advertisement pamphlet; an ineffective one at that. It is a shame that the article is still 'Stub' class, although there are so many dipsites on the net and on wikipedia.

Please understand that this is not an article where you copy-paste material from specific DPS branch brochures. Please understand that wikipedia has a policy against 'POV' (Point of View) material. Have a look at articles related to Harvard or MIT and see that they are not filled with self-congratulating material or pompous proclamations about being the 'best of the best'.

It certainly feels good, as a dipsite, to view a page that proudly states "Dipsites Rock" but it is NOT a view that an informative, unbiased, encyclopedic article is supposed to put forth. Kindly refrain from trying to place your branch over the others or giving direct links to pages that have little relevance or mentioning how great so-an-so teacher or principal is. Some more suggestions for the article :

1. Change the picture to the 'Service before Self' motto with the torch instead of the 'Dipsites Rock' picture.

- DONE

2. Have only brief description of the branches on this page. If certain schools like RKP, VK, Mathura Road or even Pinjore for that matter have more material, make a separate article for those and link the pages to the descriptions on the main article page.

3. Change the name of the article from "Delhi Public School Society" to "Delhi Public Schools"

- It is called the DPS Society so just cant change it

4. List the different branches in the form of a table at the end of the article, instead of as a list with which the article starts.

- Done

5. Remove POV material and keep the descriptions as 'descriptive' as possible :)

Fair use rationale for Image:DpsLogoMed.gif

Image:DpsLogoMed.gif is being used on this article. I notice the image page specifies that the image is being used under fair use but there is no explanation or rationale as to why its use in this Wikipedia article constitutes fair use. In addition to the boilerplate fair use template, you must also write out on the image description page a specific explanation or rationale for why using this image in each article is consistent with fair use.

Please go to the image description page and edit it to include a fair use rationale. Using one of the templates at Wikipedia:Fair use rationale guideline is an easy way to insure that your image is in compliance with Wikipedia policy, but remember that you must complete the template. Do not simply insert a blank template on an image page.

If there is other fair use media, consider checking that you have specified the fair use rationale on the other images used on this page. Note that any fair use images uploaded after 4 May, 2006, and lacking such an explanation will be deleted one week after they have been uploaded, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. If you have any questions please ask them at the Media copyright questions page. Thank you.

WP:INDIA Banner/Delhi Addition

Note: {{WP India}} Project Banner with Delhi workgroup parameters was added to this article talk page because the article falls under Category:Delhi or its subcategories. Should you feel this addition is inappropriate , please undo my changes and update/remove the relavent categories to the article -- Amartyabag TALK2ME 05:25, 5 July 2008 (UTC)

More institutions

There are some more major schools which are not listed. E.g. - Ludhiana, Pune, etc. -- Extra999 (talk) 22:03, 3 January 2010 (UTC)

I have done it myself. -- Extra999 (talk) 14:22, 8 January 2010 (UTC)

Irrelevant Phrases

Phrases like "It rocks", must not be a part of this article. It is not how an encyclopedia page would look like. And it violates the POV guidelines mentioned .

DPS Gaya

Is this school affiliated to Delhi Public School Society? I have my strong doubts. Please get this verified with the official site of Delhi Public School Society. —Preceding unsigned comment added by Arunbandana (talkcontribs) 18:03, 12 February 2010 (UTC)

Yes, it exists. Also DPS Bahgalpur exist. Gaya one can be verified here - [1]. -- Extra999 (talk) 12:25, 27 February 2010 (UTC)

DPS Gaya may exist but is it affiliated to Delhi Public School Society? If not, then how can it be a part of this article? Of course DPS Bhagalpur not only exists but it is also a part of DPS Society.--arunbandana 12:01, 8 March 2010 (UTC) —Preceding unsigned comment added by Arunbandana (talkcontribs)

This is a request to the editors that the name of DPS Gaya should be immediately deleted from the list of the schools here. I had raised this issue long back but no plausible justification has been given yet for its being a part of this article. --arunbandana 08:17, 3 November 2010 (UTC) —Preceding unsigned comment added by Arunbandana (talkcontribs)

Cleanup

I cleaned up most of the article taking out about a thirds worth of the articles length in process. Most of the blatant advertising is removed now, but it still reads like an advertorial, is still completely unsourced, and is in need of a cleanup. I suggest a split to move each school in this article to an individual article for added readability. Also, PLEASE stop adding more spam to this article. The articles last form for would have had an estimated 75% chance to be speedy deleted as advertising if i would have listed it as such. Excirial (Contact me,Contribs) 13:50, 11 October 2008 (UTC)

Hi, Excirial. I thought u r the right person whose attention I should draw to the way this article is being misused by some people. The fact is that Delhi Public School Society runs a certain number of Delhi Public Schools having the same logo that appears in the article. It also has a reputation in India. However Delhi Public School Purnea is not a part of this as it can be verified by visiting the site of this school. I strongly feel that if someone does not come forward to prove that it is a part of Delhi Public School Society within a week, then it should be deleted from the article. Earlier also I had challenged the inclusion of DPS Gaya on the Talk page and it was removed from the article. --arunbandana 16:14, 16 May 2011 (UTC) —Preceding unsigned comment added by Arunbandana (talkcontribs)

DPS Vadodara

The first sentence about this school in the article is like this: "The school was founded by A K Sinha in 2001 in Vadodara, Kalali." The facts need to be verified here as the school was founded in 2003, and not in 2001. Further A K Sinha joined the school in 2004. So how could he found it? —Preceding unsigned comment added by 117.207.159.148 (talk) 15:28, 9 March 2011 (UTC)

The line is removed as of now. --Extra 999 (Contact me) 11:46, 19 January 2012 (UTC)

DPS, Purnea

I am deleting the entry of DPS, Purnea from this article. One may verify the justification for the deletion by visiting the following link: http://dpspurnea.com/contact.html. Arunbandana (talkcontribs) 16:34, 27 January 2012 (UTC)

What is the justification up there? --Extra 999 (Contact me) 01:48, 28 January 2012 (UTC)

First you should compare the two logos. Both are clearly diffrent. Then as it is mentioned on the page I have given in the link, DPS Purnea is "Under the AEGIS of DPS Educational Society", and not under the Delhi Public School Society. Arunbandana (talkcontribs) 12:23, 28 January 2012 (UTC)

Bold textIt is because it is using the old D.P.S. sign. — Preceding unsigned comment added by Apurv1999 (talkcontribs) 04:54, 23 March 2012 (UTC)

Maybe, that was my concern as well. --extra999 (talk) 13:55, 23 March 2012 (UTC)

F**k

I spent an entire 45 minutes trying to clean up this article when the browser crashed! It is full of promotional content. This article seems to rather unwatched; the edit history shows many instances of removal of content, addition of promotional content, falsification of existing information, as well as blatant vandalism – all of which were unreverted and are unreverted. My attempt was thwarted by the browser crash. I'll try again. For the time being, I'm requesting semi-protection. The small amount of unconstructive edits being made by IPs are heavily overshadowed by unconstructive IP editing. SD0001 (talk) 17:07, 29 March 2015 (UTC)

Done except for the rewrite of ad-like information. That is almost impossible to do and it doesn't look as if any secondary sources are available for that. SD0001 (talk) 06:53, 30 March 2015 (UTC)

Proposal to split the "List of schools" section of the article.

This article looks too condense especially with the List of schools section. It will be better if this sections have it's own independent mainspace page. I propose that we shift the List of schools section to List of Schools operated by Delhi Public School Society. Ayub407talk 11:48, 12 February 2016 (UTC)

Also, DPS schools outside India section to be included in the proposed article. Ayub407talk 12:12, 12 February 2016 (UTC)
