Move warring

[edit]

As there aren't any other articles on train stations named "Delray Beach station", the appropriate title for this article per WP:NATURALDIS, WP:COMMONNAME, WP:PRECISE and WP:USSTATION is Delray Beach station. If there is another Delray Beach station, please point it out and create the appropriate disambiguation pages and/or hatnotes. The current situation is a mess, as right now the natural title "Delray Beach station" just redirects to a title with an apparently unnecessary parentheses.--Cúchullain t/c 16:38, 11 April 2015 (UTC)[reply]

Okay, I've found the other station with a potentially ambiguous name: Delray Beach Seaboard Air Line Railway Station. I've now added the necessary dab measures, which is what should have happened in the first place.--Cúchullain t/c 16:43, 11 April 2015 (UTC)[reply]
I'm glad you understand. ---------User:DanTD (talk) 16:44, 11 April 2015 (UTC)[reply]

The following is a closed discussion of a requested move. Please do not modify it. Subsequent comments should be made in a new section on the talk page. Editors desiring to contest the closing decision should consider a move review. No further edits should be made to this section.

The result of the move request was: moved. The evidence that this article is the primary topic for "Delray Beach station" is compelling and has not been countered in terms of policy/guideline. Jenks24 (talk) 07:40, 24 January 2016 (UTC)[reply]

Delray Beach station (Tri-Rail and Amtrak)Delray Beach station – This is a WP:TWODABS situation between this article and the defunct Delray Beach Seaboard Air Line Railway Station. Unsurprisingly, the current station gets more page views ([1] vs. [2]) and most sources using the phrase "Delray Beach station" are talking about this one.[3][4][5][6][7] The other station can be linked in a hat note; this would also allow us to get rid of the wonky current disambiguator.--Cúchullain t/c 18:05, 6 January 2016 (UTC) Cúchullain t/c 18:05, 6 January 2016 (UTC)[reply]

No, the argument is that when there are only WP:TWODABS and one is the WP:PRIMARYTOPIC, disambiguation isn't necessary or productive. It's standard Wikipedia naming policy.--Cúchullain t/c 19:27, 6 January 2016 (UTC)[reply]
It's your argument that's not productive. The active station vs. the historic station. What if somebody else feels the historic one is the primary topic? Just because one reader my be interested in the current station doesn't mean another one won't be looking for the historic one, and vice versa. ---------User:DanTD (talk) 20:28, 6 January 2016 (UTC)[reply]
We go by evidence - page views and use in reliable sources. Both show that this station is the primary topic. People looking for the historical station can find it through the hatnote, in exactly the same number of clicks as the dab page: 1.--Cúchullain t/c 20:33, 6 January 2016 (UTC)[reply]
So hits are more important than facts. That's a really screwed-up way to look at things, Bill. ---------User:DanTD (talk) 03:58, 15 January 2016 (UTC)[reply]
Uh, no, we go by evidence (ie, facts) to determine the WP:PRIMARYTOPIC, rather than conjecture or individual editors' preferences. Again, this is basic Wikipedia naming policy.--Cúchullain t/c 23:16, 15 January 2016 (UTC)[reply]
@DanTD: The controlling policy here is WP:PRIMARYTOPIC, which offers several points for determining which among two articles is primary. These include internal links, page hits, and use in English-language sources. Cuchullain has introduced evidence in support of two of these. Let me add the third--there are more internal links to this article than to the Seaboard station. Mackensen (talk) 16:20, 22 January 2016 (UTC)[reply]

The above discussion is preserved as an archive of a requested move. Please do not modify it. Subsequent comments should be made in a new section on this talk page or in a move review. No further edits should be made to this section.

Station layout

[edit]

The station layout diagram indicates that there is no Silver Service at the station, but Amtrak lists Delray Beach as a stop. That's confusing. - Donald Albury 22:06, 26 November 2018 (UTC)[reply]

Former service

[edit]

The article indicates that the Floridian used to serve this station, but the Floridian was dropped many years before this station was established. It is the old Delray Beach Seaboard Air Line Railway Station that was served by the Floridian. Unless someone can present a good reason for this, I intend to remove the section about the Floridian serving this station, and move it to the article about the old station. - Donald Albury 21:01, 5 January 2019 (UTC)[reply]
