Demographic map needed[edit]

This article would benefit greatly from the addition of a graphic image that would show the recent dynamics of population change in Washington DC. The initial graphic in the Demographics of New York City shows one type of example, and probably the type that is needed first. However, other graphics that show demographic distribution, or historical demographic distribution would be very useful as well, such as those seen in Demographics of Philadelphia. The article also refers to the city as being no longer majority black, while brookings is a good source, the US Census bureau is generally definitive.

It may be better to redraft teh article to state "DC may have dropped from majority african-american status sometime between 2011 and the present time. Noted Demographer X at Brookings proposed the change had occurred in 2011, while a US Census department study showed a continuing decline in 2012, that event had not occurred but was expected to occur in 2013"

Contradiction in data[edit]

The line in the intro — "The city was a majority-black city from the late 1950s through 2011" — contradicts the data, which shows the city as having more white people than black people in 1960. - Sdkb (talk) 00:29, 21 July 2018 (UTC)[reply]

The introduction also leaves out the history of many other ethnic groups that played an important part in shaping the District's culture and history. For example, there were also many Irish immigrants arriving in DC to escape severe poverty in Ireland and many Jewish immigrants fleeing antisemitism in Eastern Europe in the 19 hundreds and the turn of the 19th century.
