Merit

This band is only 4 years old and has never been heard outside of America. Why does it warrent a mention in an encyclopedia. There is also no mention of numbers of records sold just the phrase 'huge success' and 'twice as many as the last one'. What 200 copies instead of 100?

Where is the substantiation and merit of this entry?

To answer your question, anonymous person, Demon Hunter's last album (The Triptych) charted on the Billboard 200 chart at #136 and peaked at #1 on Billboard's Heatseekers chart (Don't believe me? Click here[1]). That should satisfy your want for "substantiation and merit." By the way, I love the pain-staking care you took to back up your claim that Demon Hunter "has never been heard outside of America." Distance issue in "History"

At the bottom of the "History" section, it says they filmed a video "at Whidbey Island, which is about an hour north of Seattle." Now come on, putting "about an hour north" in an encyclopedia is just asinine. I'm deleting the second part of that sentence (after the comma). This Is Not Metalcore?

For that today any banda who possesses a sound modern metalcore label or Hardcore, when many of these bands are clearly Nu Metal or Groove Metal.

Demon Hunter is Nu Metal is not metalcore, can be seen clearly in his early works as Infected songs, Not Ready To Die that clearly could be seen as Rap Metal or rapcore, Riff The Guitars of both the technique and intonation are very similar to bands like Korn, Deftones even clear that much more aggresivo, there is be clear that many bands have influences from Nu Metal Have Hardcore by not holding Breakdowns riff or some similar to those of metalcore or Melodic Death Metal will have to be that style, 90th that more than having a cover Prong - Snap Your Finger, Snap Your Necks , please boys a little more than hearing the music not stop listening guided by fashions. —Preceding unsigned comment added by 190.45.228.228 (talk) 03:15, 14 August 2008 (UTC)

Demon Hunter hiding their identities?

Why isn't there anything on the page about them being a Christian band?


The band members originally concealed their identities because they were all relatively well-known within the small world of Christian heavy/alternative music. (The Clarke brother's had been in Training for Utopia, one of them had been in Focal Point before that, Jesse Sprinkle was in Poor Old Lu and has had a hand in a lot of Christian rock music, Kris had played with Embodyment...). They did not want to be known as 'so and so's new band,' and have fans approaching the music with all the prejudices and expectations that knowledge would involve. And yes, this mystery did generate considerable interest and excitement -- whether that was intentional or not, I don't know. Unfortuntely, my sources for all this are just my memories of being a Tooth & Nail Scenester in the late '90s. People looking for sources to back this out could check out issues of HM magazine around the time Demon Hunter came out. Two other incidental notes: 1)I think the history section is very incomplete without at least mentioning the Clarke brother's previous bands. 2) Taking these past bands into account helps explain the band's -- apparently somewhat controversial -- classification as hardcore. I have to admit, I hear very little 'core' in Demon Hunter (and a lot of current 'metalcore' bands) myself, but there's little doubt Training for Utopia was a metalcore band, and Focal Point was hardcore. Because of the previous associations of the Clarke's brother's bands, the fact there is some continuity between all their music, and the scene they continued to be associate with, Demon Hunter has tended to get classified as metalcore. And let's face it, genre classification isn't just about the sound of the music itself, it's also the lineages that are constructed, and dare I even say 'institutional associations' (what bands/labels/scenes they associate and are associated with) that contribute to a band's genre classification. Reasons why they are hard rock

They are becuase almost half the songs on their latest album hardly have screaming in them.Here's the list.
1.Fading away
2.Carry me down
3.Incision
4.Thorns.
Four out of twelve is a good enough reason to say they are hard rock.

They're not hard rock. 4 out of 12 (or 14 if you have the special edition) is not a reason to call them hard rock. One that still leaves 8 out of 12 that are metalcore (10 out of 14 on the speical edition). And 2, you have to consider they're last albums which had alot more screaming and growled vocals in it. I know this is an old conversation but...honestly? How does this sound like hard rock? I'd like to say they have many Nu-metal songs (most notably on the first two albums but still present on the third) 'cause the hardcore influence is so minor it hardly makes them a part of a established metalcore scene and is drowned out by the metal sound they mostly display. Also many Nu-metal bands have hardcore influences, with quick drumming, aggressive vocals and breakdowns but it doesn't make them metalcore. I just think that as soon as someone says they listened to a hardcore band when they were 14 all the critics and fans start throwing around the metalcore tag, both in a positiv and negativ way.

Unfortunately since the band doesn't go on many tours, a newer picture isn't available. If anybody happens to go to a DH concert, please take a picture of the band! We can not use fair use images. TheWeakWilled (T * G) 20:33, 19 January 2010 (UTC)

Demon hunter and Metallica: The Military connection

I tried editing the Demon Hunter page to indicate Metallica's refutation of the story that they requested the US Military stop using their music during interrogations. You marked my edit as "reliable source?" which seems odd given it is their web site that the the refutation was posted on (it was also posted on Facebook, but I didn't include that reference). Given that the original comment about Metallica comes from three repeats of the one quote, it seems a bit odd that Metallica themselves denying it is regarded as unreliable. While I'm happy to leave the original quote in, it seems only fair that the denial is also mentioned. Simon j parker (talk) 01:42, 19 February 2013 (UTC)

The denial should be mentioned, provided that a WP:RS can be used. When I looked at http://www.metallica.com/news/20130218-600491.asp, it didn't appear to be the band's site with the "Quebec magnetic" logo present. But looking at the URL, I was mistaken. I've been going through the album pages for Demon Hunter and adding sections for "Singles". However, I am only aware of 2 or 3 singles per album, though I'm sure that each album has at least 4.
