There is a difference between the two accounts of his silence.

In the second mentioned (note 3 at time of writing) he says that he was so traumatised by his experience that he didn't speak of it for sixty years.

In the first (note 2) he says that he spoke of it to his lieutenant and because of the lieutenant's indifferences didn't speak of it for 60 years.

I don't propose to get into an edit war with Wikiwatcher but I would be glad if s/he could explain reasons for changes. I believe that if his Avey's account is to have long-term value it needs to be subjected to the most rigid scrutiny. Sceptic1954 (talk) 22:07, 21 March 2011 (UTC)Sceptic1954

The summary rationale for the change included a link to original research, which explains why the material was not useable. --Wikiwatcher1 (talk) 00:15, 22 March 2011 (UTC)

I don't see why the link was to original research. I will not restore the deletion though as perhaps this is overdoing the questioning at this stage - the book will soon be published. — Preceding unsigned comment added by Sceptic1954 (talkcontribs) 10:17, 22 March 2011 (UTC)
