Millionaire

I have removed the uncited claim, which has already been challenged on previous versions of this page, that he was already a millionaire in 1949.

Jonathan Aitken's life of Thatcher says his share of the c£500,000 sale of Atlas Paints in 1965 amounted to about £1m in today's money, which makes a lot more sense. Aitken also says that at the time of his marriage he was living in a cheap, rent-controlled flat, and his income was equivalent to about £150,000 in today's money. £1m in the 1940s was a huge sum of money. Denis was modestly wealthy, but not that rich.Paulturtle (talk) 13:33, 8 April 2018 (UTC)
