Death[edit]

Today Denny Doherty died at the age of 66 on January 19, 2007. He was said to have suffered an illness in his kidney, after having surgery a few months ago. AlexTN

Denny's first wife Linda Woodward knew him in Greenwich Village before he hit the big time. http://www.thevillager.com/villager_4/ghostsvisit.html

She presented him with a daughter, Jessica Doherty Woods, on July 5, 1969. http://www.angelfire.com/ma2/mamasandpapas/dates.html She died of cancer in 2002.

Linda was a songwriter, and wrote or co-wrote 6 songs on Denny's first solo album, "Whatcha Gonna Do?", while she and Denny were living in the "barrio" of East LA in the early seventies.

There may be enough material for Linda Woodard to merit a Wikipedia entry of her own. Wives of famous men do not always get the credit they deserve. Their contributions seem to be merged and overshadowed.
