Edits reverted by Garrickdaft

[edit]

I have restored the following edits that were reverted by Garrickdaft:

  • POV tag - the article has way too much of a promotional tone, and some sections need a much more neutral approach. This isn't the Derek Poundstone fan club.
  • External links - there were a number of links in the external links section that are general strongman links, but not relevant specifically to Poundstone. WP:EL makes it very clear that such links should not be included (see item 13 in the section WP:ELNO).
  • There was a whole paragraph about Terry and Jan Todd and the Todd-McLean collection. This has absolutely no information about Derek Poundstone. If you want to include it in Wikipedia, maybe consider starting a page on Terry Todd. But it doesn't belong here.

I concur and have restored your version. I have noted in the edit summary that Garrickdaft should discuss here and not revert this edit. Glen 22:07, 17 July 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Information not seen in the article: Derek Poundstone was recently divorced.

Flags

[edit]

Please look at the guidance in Wikipedia:Manual_of_Style_(flags)#Do_not_use_flags_in_general_article_prose. If you feel that it is of overriding importance to insert flags in text, despite the guidance in the MOS, please discuss this here first. -- Timberframe (talk) 20:49, 20 September 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Unsupported statements in the lead

[edit]

I've added the BLPsource tag because the biographical details in the lead are completely unsourced. I've deleted 2 sentences naming DP's father and stating his career and age at death because as well as unsourced they are not relevant to the article. However, other statements about DP's family members supporting him and about his other jobs / sources of income are in urgent need of supporting references. If none are forthcoming quickly I suggest they are deleted. -- Timberframe (talk) 17:07, 6 January 2009 (UTC)[reply]
