Seagull Book

[edit]

Even though Deseret Book purchased Seagull Book, they are still run differently. They have different prices, different merchandise, and even different programs for customers. They are still too different to be put together I think. —Preceding unsigned comment added by 67.182.219.241 (talkcontribs) 23:31, 3 December 2007

Covenant Communications

[edit]

Why does Covenant Communications redirect here? At least a Covenant Communications page should reflect the company's history, much like the page for Bookcraft, which was purchased by Deseret Book prior to the purchase of Covenant. Kent Larsen (talk) 01:32, 18 January 2010 (UTC)[reply]

I agree that they should have their own page, but nobody has bothered to write it, myself included. As the principle author of the Bookcraft article, I can say that it takes a fair amount of work to find all that source material, and I chose to write on Bookcraft because it was a more important LDS publisher (in its time). Current priorities may prevent me from doing the same for Covenant.
The redirect is probably because DB is the parent publisher and CC is briefly mentioned in the article: Deseret Book#Seagull Book and Covenant Communications. Much more should be said though. ——Rich jj (talk) 21:24, 27 January 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Dropped Artists CITE needed.

[edit]

In the article section Deseret Book#Excel Entertainment Group it currently says:

Shortly after the merger between the two record labels, many of the recording artists on the new Shadow Mountain label were dropped from their contract.

BUT the supplied reference does not support this. For now I have added a CITE NEEDED tag. 104.32.193.6 (talk) 00:33, 24 January 2015 (UTC)[reply]

Deseret Book Company is the actual name of the company

[edit]

Since the article covers all three divisions of the Deseret Book Company, that should be the article's name. Deseret Management Company [1], the Encyclopedia of Mormonism [2], and the company's own About page [3] use "Deseret Book Company". Deseret Book, although it is used extensively for branding, is only part of the whole company. It is easy to change the name of the article and redirect Deseret Book to it. The text will have to be updated however. Since this change is something that people could get upset with, I would appreciate a discussion to approve the move. Agree with the idea of switching to the official company name; Deseret Book is a already a section within the page, suggesting that it is not formally equivalent with the company. I'll request the move (can't do it directly as there is already a redirect at that page). Klbrain (talk) 11:14, 18 November 2017 (UTC)[reply]

Merge Excel Entertainment Group to this article

[edit]

Excel Entertainment Group isn't notable enough on its own. It is already included here. Take any info deemed worthy from its own article, merge it into this article, blank the Excel page and redirect it here. Mnnlaxer (talk) 04:36, 3 July 2015 (UTC)[reply]

Support - Seems reasonable to me.--- ARTEST4ECHO(Talk) 13:13, 8 September 2015 (UTC)[reply]
