GDR
[edit]This is not a commonly-used expression in English. The country was known as East Germany.
- I disagree with the first of those claims. "East Germany" may certainly be the more commonly encountered colloquial expression, but GDR (sometimes even DDR) is, and was, used often enough to be well understood – certainly in the UK (colloquially known as "Britain"), and especially in serious/scholarly contexts. A bit like the USSR (colloquially: "Russia"). -- Picapica (talk) 12:53, 29 July 2017 (UTC)
Chronology
[edit]The chronology as currently given is somewhat muddled, with the intro and History paragraphs contradicting each other with regard to dates. Unless someone else beats me to it, I will re-write as soon as may be, moving all dates from the intro to the History section. -- Picapica (talk) 12:58, 29 July 2017 (UTC)
