It's an interesting article, well written. I only suggest to add some more references and to deepend the section of "Examples" by introducing some other applications.--Francesca tagliaferri polimi (talk) 13:41, 18 June 2021 (UTC)[reply]

Comments[edit]

Hi!,

I changed 'Digital twin', 'Digital Twin', 'DT' to 'digital twin'. I think we can keep it in lower case in the text.

I would say that linking the text 'data' to the article 'data' in Wikipedia is too broad.

When you write 'Michael Grieves', I think you should cite the source. I think you cite the correct reference but only at the end of the paragraph. My policy is to cite each phrase, if possible, even if the citation is the same as before. It keeps the source clear.

Thank you for your contribution. --EdoardoRamalli (talk) 14:24, 18 June 2021 (UTC)[reply]

The topic is well presented and very interesting. You should amplify the last section, with more examples about the three categories you mention in the article. --Riccardo Munafò (talk) 14:27, 18 June 2021 (UTC)[reply]

Observations and suggestions for improvements[edit]

The following observations and suggestions for improvements were collected, following expert review of the article within the Science, Tecnology, Society and Wikipedia course at the Politecnico di Milano, in June 2021.

Main Suggestions:

1) The article never mentions the "intelligence" of the Digital Twins. It mentions the connection between DT and AI, but there is a big discussion on the fact whether DT are "intelligent" or provide data and simulated results to an "intelligent layer" in order to make decisions and to automatedly feedback actions to the physical system/object

2) Another missing point is the importance of the DT with respect to the life cycle of the physical system/object. Ideally it is developed in the beginning of life of the physical system/object and then it accompanies it through all the life cycle phases, updating its data and models to be at the same time a complete repository of digital information on the physical system/object and a repository of the past evolution of the system/object.

3) I have the impression that the story-telling jumps too much between manufacturing and construction sectors (avoiding other sectors that also may be interested in DT). Please try to make it more linear.

4) The article needs to be revised to improve English language and readability.
