Isn't the correct title for this article "Direct drive mechanism"? -- Mikeblas 15:31, 12 August 2006 (UTC)
There was a direct drive transmission also in the Doble Steam Car. The steam engine was big and torque was huge. 130.230.31.119 (talk) 21:55, 29 March 2008 (UTC)
This topic is missing industry solutions[edit]
There are many industry solutions using gearless drive such as gearless mill drive, gearless hoist drive and gearless conveyor drive solutions in mining industry. It is true that these applications require special permanent magnet motors but the cost of gear box and improved efficiency make them attractive.
