The last section headers sounds like it is about organization that militate for the criminalization or are otherwise discriminatory against homeless people. It should probably be changed. Circeus (talk) 05:43, 19 October 2008 (UTC)

Refactored

I've now refactored this article (formerly called "Anti-homelessness") into three:

It's not perfect, but at least it avoid conflating wildly disparate topics into a single article.

I've taken the Phil Collins "Another Day in Paradise" stuff out completely: if it belongs anywhere, it might be in an article called "songs about homelessness". -- The Anome (talk) 14:57, 25 October 2008 (UTC)

There is major original research going on in this article.

Indeed. While doubtless correct, what we want to see is sourced fact - research showing the relative success of parallel job applications , etc. I'm sure it exists. Rich Farmbrough, 17:58 26 May 2009 (UTC).

There has got to be some way to work in that great Anatole France quote: "The law in its majestic equality forbids the rich as well as the poor from sleeping beneath bridges". Don't know where it's from, though. Maybe it's on wikiquote.

How is "Another Day in Paradise" anti-homeless? Is the song itself expressing this viewpoint, or (more accurately, IMO) is it calling attention to the attitudes of the passersby ("Don't think twice/ It's just another day for you and me in paradise")? You also might want to note that Phil Collins had also written another song about homelessness years earlier, ("Man on the Corner", on the Genesis album Abacab, in 1981 before it became chic to write songs about homeless people), with similar lyrical themes ("When he shouts, nobody listens/ Where he leads, no one will go"). In response to comments made by user at 24.248.200.182:

Comparing discrimination of the homeless to the police's invention of 'crimes' and presecution of 'criminals' is purely a fascist ideology based on seflishness and privilige.

The only comparison is that both are clearly immoral and based on lies, and should be stopped at any cost to the practitioners of those nazi-inspired fascist ideologies.

The cause of homelessness is capitalism and generational greed, and this is clearly evidenced by the increase of homelessness as the boomer generation takes over more of the world's resources for purely personal gains.

We are very likely to see the peak of homelessness in this decade, and a slow decline as the boomers and gen x generations begin to have less and less influence on the world stage, and the more ethical and less capitalistic generations begin to have influence over policies and attitudes in the media and popular culture. 80.44.203.20 (talk) 16:41, 12 July 2022 (UTC)

How could it possibly be 'balanced'?

Are you expecting equal treatmet of those who are discriminating against the homeless with those trying to solve the problems?

I don't see anyone asking for 'balance' when discussing cancer or paedophilia, the concept of 'balance' is merely nazi propaganda to have fascism be given equal consideration to the truth, when that infact would be bias in favour of fascism. 80.44.203.20 (talk) 16:45, 12 July 2022 (UTC)

How can they be seperated?

Opposition to homelessness is based on humanitarian and moralistic understanding of the plight of the homeless, which starts with addressing the discrimination against them.

The distinction that needs to be made clear is that between those trying to help and those trying to keep the status quo because they themselves discriminate against the victims.

It is akin to the neonazis trying to seperate discussion of the holocaust from discussion of the nazi's ideologies, as a way to white-wash their fascist political stances. 80.44.203.20 (talk) 16:50, 12 July 2022 (UTC)

Unsourced point

The article notes that proponents of anti-homelessness laws aim to decrease homelessness. Is there any reason to believe this is true? It seems just as likely that they are unconcerned with decreasing homelessness and are simply trying to keep public spaces free of the homeless by any means. Yes, the millions of charities and good people who don't think it is right for homelessness to be forced onto victims of capitalism.

It does not seem as though they are trying to keep homeless people away from public spaces, that is a deliberate attempt to confuse those who want to help with those who openly discriminate.

Those who have always hoarded the resources that rightly belong to everyone always try to justify their greed by attacking those who want equality and ethical treatment to be universal. 80.44.203.20 (talk) 16:55, 12 July 2022 (UTC)

Where is the information on discrimination against homeless by the private sector

I am getting the feeling from this article that the author is very biased against the policies of the government, and most of the blame of homeless discrimination is placed on the government. I neither agree or disagree, but I believe we also need to see the other aspects of discrimination such as private sector discriminating against them when seeking employment opportunities, homeless mothers etc.Qshablog (talk) 03:07, 4 October 2021 (UTC)

The private sector is largely a myth, those who's families are always in government tend to own, run, or have interests in the 'private sector, and therefore the government is merely a mouthpiece and tool used by the private sector to further the interests of the political class, and they cannot be seperated.#
