Problems in "Theory" section

[edit]

In "Bernoulli's principle", variables p1 and p2 need to be defined.

In "Momentum theory", there should be an explanation of how the air velocity far downstream can be twice the velocity at the disk, which is quite counterintuitive (why does it speed up?). — Preceding unsigned comment added by 208.71.200.91 (talk) 07:08, 25 July 2012 (UTC)[reply]

Caption to illustration titled 'Disk loading'

[edit]

We have an illustration of MV-22 Osprey titled simply 'Disk loading.' The caption reads 'The MV-22 Osprey tiltrotor has a relatively high disk loading, producing visible blade tip vortices from condensation of the marine air in this photo of a vertical takeoff.' It needs a bit of rewording. The MV-22 disk loading is comparatively high for rotorcraft, when tilted vertically and operating as a rotorcraft, but is comparatively low for airplanes, when tilted horizontally and operating as an airplane.
