Note to disambiguators[edit]

Distinguished Service Medal (United States) itself is a disambiguation page, so try to be more specific there. TimBentley (talk) 17:40, 3 May 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Images?[edit]

I was always told that images do not belong on disambiguation pages. In looking at the Manual of Style on images for disambiguation pages, I do not believe that ribbon bars meet the criteria set forth. Cheers. EricSerge (talk) 21:51, 6 October 2012 (UTC)[reply]

Here's my thinking - and I'm not sure if it was right. I've been disambiguating the links to Distinguished Service Medal and often I look at the photo of the recipient and see which ribbons they are wearing. That means the appearance of the ribbon is useful information in disambiguating. I agree it's not clearly within Manual of Style on images, but it seemed useful to me, so I went for it. Sometimes breaking the rules makes sense. Thank you. SchreiberBike (talk) 23:23, 6 October 2012 (UTC)[reply]
