Virgin Mary

[edit]

She is not called Divine Mother but Mother of God.

She has been referred to as Divine Mother in Church history however. The connotation is different though. Divine Mother does not refer to the Virgin Mary as being divine of herself, but her divinity is through God just as any Christian obtains divinity (not 'God status', but the 'Christ life' through Baptism) as being sons or daughters of God. In Mary's case, according the Catholic theology, she is mother to us all, thus the title of Divine Mother applying to her. Stylteralmaldo (talk) 20:15, 22 December 2008 (UTC)[reply]
