I have never seen one of these backup units for over $3000. Anthrox wanted something like $500 for them after they came out. Even at this price it was expensive. There were places selling them for prices ranging from $250-$350. Rumors spread that backups on the streets of New York cost $10 for one CD containing one game (for example, Super Mario 64).

Also there's an inaccuracy in this article. All Doctor V64 units could play backed up games. The units were originally shipped without the capability to back up games. They always could play them regardless if the V64 was modded or not. In current days, there is no need for this modification as ROM images for every game ever made are being spread rampantly on the web every day.

Below why are we concerned with fair use? Bung no longer has a presence as a company. Sure they probably still exist making DS flash carts under a different name, but they won't come out of the wood work going after someone for using their old logo. That would expose them once again and would not benefit them in the slightest bit. —Preceding unsigned comment added by Rooket (talkcontribs) 18:24, 15 April 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Fair use rationale for Image:Doctor v64 logo.png

[edit]

Image:Doctor v64 logo.png is being used on this article. I notice the image page specifies that the image is being used under fair use but there is no explanation or rationale as to why its use in Wikipedia articles constitutes fair use. In addition to the boilerplate fair use template, you must also write out on the image description page a specific explanation or rationale for why using this image in each article is consistent with fair use.

Please go to the image description page and edit it to include a fair use rationale. Using one of the templates at Wikipedia:Fair use rationale guideline is an easy way to insure that your image is in compliance with Wikipedia policy, but remember that you must complete the template. Do not simply insert a blank template on an image page.

If there is other other fair use media, consider checking that you have specified the fair use rationale on the other images used on this page. Note that any fair use images uploaded after 4 May, 2006, and lacking such an explanation will be deleted one week after they have been uploaded, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. If you have any questions please ask them at the Media copyright questions page. Thank you.BetacommandBot 01:39, 3 June 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Smaller serial port area

[edit]

I don't find any information about this anywhere. I've stumbled across this rumor several times the last 20 years but never with any prove. I do own several versions of the Nintendo 64 console (should be about 25 in total) - the only versions which differ in the expansion port area are the three "Pokemon Pikachu" editions. — Preceding unsigned comment added by 85.115.56.180 (talk) 13:55, 6 September 2019 (UTC)[reply]

Extremely low quality

[edit]

This page needs to be rewritten to show accurate information about the hardware. If there's anyone out there that can supply factual information without diverting into fantasy land and making things up based on low quality photos then it would be greatly appreciated. This device deserves a proper wiki. 14.200.70.44 (talk) 19:54, 19 February 2023 (UTC)[reply]

Planned Revision of Article Structure

[edit]

Hello everyone!

This article has been flagged as being written like an essay, and while the content within it is solid, I think it could do with some rewording and editing of content to keep it away from the essay style. I also think that the article could do with some reorganization, as vital pieces of info are buried in sections that mask the importance of the information. I intend to carry out these edits in the next few weeks, and will workshop them on my own end so things shouldn’t be too incremental in the meantime. Just wanted to say hi and inform of my intentions, please feel free to respond if you have any recommendations or if you object to these proposed edits. Thanks!
