Dolours Price named Gerry Adams as IRA[edit]

I don't have WP:RS for this, but it's frequently quoted that Dolours Price named Gerry Adams as her "commanding officer" when convicted of a bombing in 1982 (?). Does anyone have a good reference for this, and shouldn't it be in this article? PalestineRemembered 16:54, 3 May 2007 (UTC)[reply]

PoW?[edit]

Is it correct to categorise her as a Prisoner of War? Pontificake 21:18, 11 July 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Surely this is incorrect. The PIRA's campaign for "political status" was, in many ways, an attempt to secure the rights accorded PoW. To call Dolours Price as PoW is take the PIRA's side in a still disputed area.

Old Bailey bomb[edit]

I took this detail from the Gerry Kelly article. 'Two of the car bombs were defused but the other two exploded, one near the Old Bailey and the other at Scotland Yard. As a result of the explosions one person was killed and almost 200 people were injured.'

You are adding your own commentary to what the source says. If you are incapable of accurately paraphrasing a source, I do not see why other editors should be forced to spoon-feed you through why your version does not accurately paraphrase the source. This is what Gerry Kelly said in 2007 about the bombings so the border poll is not irrelevant but the reason. Should readers not be allowed to know O Fenian or did the IRA kill for no reason?

"We were sent over to bomb London in March ‘73 – it was known as the Old Bailey bombings.'...There was a referendum on the border set for 8 March. Nationalists boycotted the referendum and only 57 per cent of the electorate took part in the poll. The car bombs were set to go off for 8 March – the date of the referendum. It was a Belfast Brigade operation for GHQ. Volunteer vs member[edit]

I feel "member" is a suitably neutral word to describe people who were involved with the IRA. "Volunteer" is their preferred word but it seems too much like self-advertisement, implying moral superiority over their paid opponents. It's OK in a quotation but not in a neutral reference source. Cause of death[edit]

The statement "In January 2013 Price died by suicide" isn't referenced and is contradicted by the inquest:

"Dr Farrell said that there was no evidence to support a verdict of suicide. He returned a verdict of death by misadventure.

Date of birth?[edit]

Was she really born in December 1950? At the end of the documentary about her (written by Ed Moloney) they say she was 61 when she died. Another source (thejournal.ie) says the same. Munsalan kansallispuku (talk) 19:37, 21 September 2020 (UTC)[reply]
