There seems to be some debate over the inclusion of this paragraph:

'Dominic's drumming has made significant jumps in sophistication with every new release; the band's most recent work, Black Holes and Revelations, features some very quick, fast drumming demonstrating a more technical approach than in previous albums.'

Someone seems to think this is too subjective a statement. It could perhaps be worded more objectively (maybe?) but I think it is an objective fact to state that, on Black Holes, Dom's drumming features is more 'technical': and by that I mean faster and more complex. The drum fill near the beginning of Assassin is proof enough of this. It just involves more things being hit and faster than anything else he's done before-- it's simply more sophisticated from a technical standpoint, and I don't think that this can be denied. - James Duffy, 12/06/06

It seems very POV to me, personally I think the drumming work on Absolution was more "technical", the only "technical" part of the percussion on BHAR is that he uses the Tom Toms a lot, which I hardly call "technical". --Tene 05:07, 13 June 2006 (UTC)[reply]

It's not Wikipedia's job to make judgements of musicians' drumming technique. See Wikipedia:No original research. If it's something which a number of critics have picked up on then that can and should be said, citing those reviews. BigBlueFish 13:34, 13 June 2006 (UTC)[reply]

I don't think it's a subjective judgement to observe that the drumming is a lot faster and more complicated than on previous albums. This seems to me to be a black and white situation. I have seen at least two reviews cite the complex drumming so far and lots and lots of fan observation, but I'll dig them up and wait for some more reviews before adding it back in, I guess. - James Duffy, 13 June 2006 __

This fansite has noted on their news page that part of the Dominic Howard article is a copy from the biography on their website. We need a new Dominic Photo.

Birth Date[edit]

I have his birth date as 12 July, 1977. This presumably arises from the difference between the British and American way of expressing dates. Is it the 7th day of the 12th month, or the 12th day of the 7th month etc. Can anyone offer a definitive version?

It is July 12th. As it is written in Ben Myers Biography of Muse, Ben Myer being close and personal with the band. Pettythug 16:39, 16 February 2007 (UTC)[reply]
As far as I know, his Birthday is in December (7th). I'm pretty sure, 'cause in one Interview(I can't remember which one) they are talking about Dom's Birthday in Winter, and it's written down in a Book 'bout them by Brian Sylvester. Not sure about the accuracy of some points in this article, particularly in the muse work section. The list of his favourite bands looks a little suspect (does he really like Limp Bizkit?) and I'm sure I've read in a number of interviews with the band that he's a huge fan of the 'Yeah Yeah Yeahs. I'm also almost entirely sure that the death of his father had no effect on the stability of the band, and certainly did not 'push them to the point of breakup'.

(but I'm not so sure that I'd want to change it)

Also, some re-phrasing might be a good idea. This sentence is an absolute classic: 'He began at about 11, when he was struck by a jazz band performing at school.' Poor boy.

The incredible amount of detail about his drumkits is maybe a little too technical for anyone who doesn't have an incredible knowledge of drumming, but I suppose it doesn't hurt to have it there.

Merger proposal[edit]

I propose that Dr. Pepper's Jaded Hearts Club Band be merged into Matt Bellamy, Miles Kane, Chris Cester, Ilan Rubin, Sean Payne, Dominic Howard and Paul McCartney. This is not a "band" with its own established presence, and is not notable independently. There is little to no independent coverage of this "band." The article linked simply describes this as a name used to promote an event where members of various notable bands played a Beatles cover with Paul McCartney one time. Merge into the existing articles about the notable people who contributed to this performance. Audiovideodiscoo (talk) 02:14, 19 March 2018 (UTC)[reply]
