Just making sure you still want to do this, SNUGGUMS? ☠ JAGUAR ☠ 15:17, 26 April 2015 (UTC)
- Infobox
- Please be consistent with either using DMY or MDY dates as per MOS:DATE. If using DMY, don't include commas.
- Lead
- see above note on dates
- Gameplay
- It would help to say how many lives the player starts with
- Something tells me the use of semi-colons in "However, the player can gain additional lives by collecting items scattered throughout the levels, including bananas; golden letters that spell out K–O–N–G; extra life balloons; and golden animal tokens that lead to bonus levels" should be replaced with commas, and maybe this could be split into two sentences.
- The "not as powerful" bit from "Donkey is the larger of the two, and can defeat enemies more easily. Diddy is faster and more agile, but not as powerful." seems to already be implied; try something like "Donkey is the larger of the two, and can defeat enemies more easily while Diddy is faster and more agile"
- The entire third paragraph is uncited
- Plot
- I'm pretty sure this can be contained within "Gameplay" as much of it replicates that section
- Development
- Again, MOS:DATE
- Not sure if "DK Jamz track listing" should be collapsed
- Reception
- It would help to include a time range for the sales figure of 9 million copies
- According to this source the game sold six million copies within the "holiday seasion" but I couldn't find anything about a time range for the nine million. I assume it's the grand total so I've re-worded this sentence
- Legacy
- "Donkey Kong Country eventually sold nine million units, making it the second-best selling SNES game"..... try to change the phrasing a bit since the figure was also given in "Reception", i.e. "After selling nine million units, Donkey Kong Country became the second-best selling SNES game"
- Needs to comply with MOS:DATE
- References
- Capitalize the "G" in AllGame
- "IGN.com" should simply read IGN
- Are "Rare Gamer", "NowGamer", "OverClocked ReMix", and "rareware" reliable? I can't find anything about them on WP:VGRS
- OverClocked ReMix is good as I've used that on a few GAs before, however I checked the for NowGamer and it appears that they are not a fan site nor are their pages user-submitted content, so I think it'll be OK to keep that one in although I'll ask at WP:VG/RS just to be sure. It is a vital ref too - it's what I used to bring this up to GA. As for Rare Gamer, I discovered it wasn't reliable so I just removed it entirely JAGUAR 13:18, 1 May 2015 (UTC)
- "MobyGames" is not reliable per WP:VGRS
- "nintendolife.com" should read "NintendoLife"
- "ScrewAttack" is on the "Situational sources" section of WP:VGRS, is this a good use for it?
- Overall
- Well-written?
- Prose quality: Could be better. There are also three DAB links
- Manual of Style compliance: Needs some work
- Verifiable?
- Reference layout: Mostly good
- Reliable sources: One unreliable source and several questionable sources
- No original research: Uncited text and deadlinks need to be addressed
- Broad in coverage?
- Major aspects: The life count and original November 1994 release date needs to be included somewhere within the prose
- Focused: No excess detail
- Neutral?: I can't find any bias
- Stable?: All good
- Illustrated, if possible, by images?
- Appropriate licensing: The "n.a." fields in File:Donkey Kong Country advert 001.jpg should be filled out
- Relevance and captioning: For File:Donkey Kong Country Shot 2.png, I would indicate that Diddy Kong is the one in the air
- Pass or Fail?: On hold for seven days. I'm mainly concerned with MOS and sources right now. Snuggums (talk / edits) 23:18, 30 April 2015 (UTC)
- @SNUGGUMS: thanks for the review! I've made an attempt to address everything, if you want to take a look? As I mentioned above I removed and replaced all unreliable/broken refs and cleaned up the pose along the way JAGUAR 13:23, 1 May 2015 (UTC)
- The only things left are too merge plot and add original release of November 1994 somewhere within article body. Snuggums (talk / edits) 19:00, 1 May 2015 (UTC)
- SNUGGUMS, per WP:VG/GL I have merged the plot under gameplay through a sub-header, as the guideline suggested. The November 1994 release is already mentioned in the lead as with all of the release dates but I mentioned it again at the begenning of the reception section as I thought it would be best suited there. I also mentioned it in the marketing section "from the game's release in November 1994 until April 1995" for safe measure. Please let me know if you want anything else done JAGUAR 21:35, 1 May 2015 (UTC)
