Hi, I'll take this one. Feel free to argue or correct any of my points!

Prelim[edit]

  • No dup links
  • No images to check - is anything, even a vaguer non-Doug Mountjoy specific, image possible?
  • No edit war
  • Earwig reports copyvio issue with reference #3, needs wording changed more in early life section

Lede and infobox[edit]

  • "Mountjoy qualified for the World Championship" - link which World Championship
  • The 49 century breaks aren't mentioned or cited in text, similarly career winnings

Career[edit]

  • "he had an attack of Bell's palsy which partially paralysed his face." - clarify when this happened exactly?
  • "With the problem cleared" - what does this mean?
  • "fluking" needs a link
  • "Mountjoy won only one more frame as Davis eased to an 18–12 victory." - I was a little uncertain about some of the wording up to this point, but this especially seems a little much - the article referencing this in fact describes him "clinch"ing the victory
  • "to go with his 1980 title." - why is this mentioned here and not chronologically earlier on?
  • "losing to Cliff Thorburn." - the final of the Masters seems notable enough to deserve the score?
  • "having previously won it in 1978." - again with the chronology?
  • "He won another Welsh title in 1987" - link available?
  • "but otherwise he struggled" > "but otherwise struggled"
  • "1–9 defeat to Steve Longworth in the 1986 UK Championship." - which round?
  • "By 1988 he was out of the top 16 in the world rankings." - this is the first time his world ranking is even mentioned. Would expect it to have at least been mentioned earlier on when he did breach the top 16
    • So, the rankings never used to be that big a deal, as there was only a handful of players in the 1970s. It wasn't until the late 80s, where you would need a high ranking to not have to qualify where it became a big deal. He was ranked world number 14 after his first pro season for instance. • "but did appear in the 2002 World Snooker Championship." - to what result?
  • The lede mentions him coaching the UAE team but this isn't mentioned anywhere else

Death[edit]

  • Should probably link stroke
  • Link World Snooker and WPBSA?
  • Doesn't seem like the more enthusiastic epitaph in that quote, but if that's what they said...!

That's all I have for now. Thanks, Pickersgill-Cunliffe (talk) 23:09, 31 October 2021 (UTC)[reply]
