Correction?[edit]

The following was inserted into the article; I leave it here in order that someone better acquainted with the subject than I might determine if the article should be edited consistent with the IP's objections: "It's too much work to fix this article, but Doug Richard did not found Micrografx. Micrografx was founded by Paul and George Grayson. You can check the Wikipage for Micrografx, because it's correct - notice there's no mention of Doug and notice it sold in late 2001 (also correct). Doug was just CEO for a few years. Secondly, he did not sell Micrografx. He was essentially forced out over a year before Micrografx was sold to Corel. try this business week article as a reference to who founded Micrografx: http://www.businessweek.com/archives/1993/b330760.arc.htm. It's from 1993, a few years before Doug started working there. The link above shows that Micrografx sold in late 2001 and that Jim Hopkins was president and CEO. Shouldn't be too hard to search for. Try this link: http://findarticles.com/p/articles/mi_m0EIN/is_2000_Sept_28/ai_65553366/ same as above, but found a different way. Notice how it says Doug Richard is leaving to run Image2Web and Jim Hopkins is taking over the complete Micrografx ship? I find it quite funny how the first commenter corrects the fact that he didnt found micrografx, but then goes onto to say "doug was just CEO for a few years." it reads like you are trying to downplay the achievement, which is rather amusing. You also go on to say he was "essentially forced out over a year" but the article you link to doesnt mention any forcing out of any kind. According to your link, Micrografx split internally into two arms and doug headed the graphics division. When someone is forced out, it means they are fired or made redundant and neither actually happened if you read the report more diligently. Richard did not found Micrografx, he was appointed as CEO after the MGXI stock fell precipitously shortly after his company, Visual Software, was purchased by Micrografx in an accounting transaction known as a "pooling of interests" whereby he received shares in MGXI that he was unable to sell. He held these shares while the share price fell, and thus lost most of the value of the company he had sold. He was appointed interim president and then subsequently CEO by the board which sought to restore wall street's confidence after the accounting irregularities arose which had caused the share price fall. He was the CEO for 16 quarters and then ran the graphics subsidiary which was unable to receive additional venture funding in anticipation of being spun out. His departure was voluntary and he was a participant in recruiting Jim Hopkins to take his former role.Dmtgjap (talk) 10:29, 2 March 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Why does it say 'Richards' all over the article? Is that a mistake, or is it some sort of dual use of his name? I'm genuinely puzzled now as to whether or not the surname Richard can also be written as Richards, I realise you could write Richard's company, but not Richards' company, or Richards's company - what's going on? Innovate UK no longer list Doug Richard as a board member on their website. ^[1]

The original appointment press release said that he would serve from 2012-2015, the page entry should reflect this ^[2]
