Phil playing guitar on albums[edit]

Phil recently told in a French interview that he recorded guitar on 3 Down songs : - "Pray For The Locust" on NOLA - "Landing Mountains Of Meggido" on II - "The Path" on III

re-rewrite needed[edit]

the new cd is out now the the 'tense' of the related portion of said article is in dire need of a 'face lift'A.I.C. rules. four tildes —Preceding unsigned comment added by Otis66Driftwood (talkcontribs) 17:03, 26 September 2007 (UTC)[reply]

The entire article is rewritten now and is currently a GAN. —Burningclean [Speak the truth!] 23:55, 28 February 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Rewrite[edit]

I have re written most of the main part of this article, in an attempt to meet the clean up request in place since Nov 2005. I have tried to keep in most of the details people had included previously, but I have added in other important information, and restructured the article so that it flows a bit better. Such a great band deserves a decent page!! Alph K9 01:06, 13 April 2006 (UTC)Alpha K9[reply]

Blues-metal?[edit]

Wouldn't Down be considered "blues-metal" as well? A lot of the songs on their 2nd CD sounded really bluesy to me.

The genre is more commonly defined as "stoner metal", incorporating southern rock and some blues music indeed.

Phils Throat[edit]

tonight I saw Heaven and Hell with Megadeth and NO DOWN, this was same with yesterday when they didnt play due to Phil having a throat problem in Edmonton. this could be interesting info for the band or whatever, by the way the show fucking slayed The Ravager 06:32, 15 March 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Trivia[edit]

  • The fan club of Down bears the name 'The Brotherhood of Eternal Sleep', or simply B.R.O.E.S. /ˈbrɒs/.
  • The song "NOD" on Over the Under is about the nightmares of heroin/addiction, and the "nod squad" is a reference the abilities of various individuals to pass out while on heroin, shortly regain consciousness, then nod out again repeatedly, producing the effect of a nodding head.

singles?[edit]

hey man are you sure bury me in smoke was put out as a single? I've been collecting this stuff more or less since nola came out (I'm an old bastard) and I have every single, promo, advance copy you name it from the first 2 records and the singles I have from nola are stone the crow - lifer - and rehab...I can send you pics if you wanna see em....if you have or have seen a bury me in smoke thats got to be the rarest of the rare....also I think I Scream was put out from Over the Under 198.182.13.103 (talk) 10:05, 6 March 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Really? You don't need to send me pictures, but if you wanted to you could. I scream, Mourn and something else were released from Over the Under. I'm just waiting a little bit so I can update the chart properly. I want to add as many singles as I can find. Bury Me in Smoke was released, but it was only on a disc that looks like it was copied just for radio stations. It isn't even really a collector thing. —Burningclean [Speak the truth!] 23:09, 6 March 2008 (UTC)[reply]

1) why is tempations wings not classed as a single?, 2) why is Bury me in smoke stated as having a video ? and why does this article say that there is no video for stone the crow ? —Preceding unsigned comment added by Khanrad (talkcontribs) 10:47, 15 March 2008 (UTC)[reply]

1) It is now, 2) I don't know and 3) if you click on the page for stone the crow, it not only states that there's a video, but there is also a link that you can watch it on. Dark Executioner (talk) 17:59, 28 March 2008 (UTC)[reply]

GA on hold[edit]

  • No image for infobox?
  • "The members consist of" - members --> band, consist --> consists
  • "and has gone on indefinate hiatus twice" - indef is a poor word since it ended...
  • "a small concert in it's hometown" - rmv apostrophe
  • "the album has received a platinum award" - has been certified platinum?
  • "In 2002, Down reformed to make another record" - you said nothing about them splitting up...
  • "Pepper Keenan in 2005. Down wrote and recorded Down II: A Bustle in Your Hedgerow in 28 "drug and booze induced" days." - apart from the first 4 words, what does this have to do with the image?
  • "The album was released on 26 March 2002. The album was not received with the positive reviews that appeared when NOLA was released." - merge sentences
  • "Down stated they will be re-releasing..." - when?

And a note on my talk page when done. Cheers, dihydrogen monoxide (H2O) 01:12, 12 March 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Todd Strange didn't play on NOLA![edit]

He was only with the band when they did their 13-date tour to support that album. All bass, as well as rhythm guitar, was handled by Kirk Windstein. This should be changed on their album page. And what's this about Down wanting to re-record NOLA? That's a 2-year-old rumor, it's not very likely to happen. Angry89Story (talk) 19:35, 17 March 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Feel free to change it. The part with Todd Strange was changed by a troll anyway, as evident here. Erzsébet Báthory(talk|contr.) 19:57, 17 March 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Rex is in down![edit]

Rex is not a past member, it is known that maybe he will be on the new down album, he is just not with the guys live...but he is in Down...46.164.183.211 (talk) 16:32, 14 May 2011 (UTC)[reply]

I agree, what evidence/references are there that he's left the band? VenomousConcept (talk) 21:45, 22 June 2011 (UTC)[reply]
Blabbermouth.net June 22, 2011 - This source confirms that he has left the band and has been replaced by Patrick Bruders. "We have Pat now. Pat's playing bass. We love Rex to death, man, and wish him the best. He has a new project as well and I know he's having fun doing that. He gave Pat his blessing, so it was on a good term. But he will not be back." HrZ (talk) 11:02, 23 June 2011 (UTC)[reply]
OK, I see the reference at the bottom now, thanks. VenomousConcept (talk) 12:26, 23 June 2011 (UTC)[reply]

Chart positions?![edit]

Are the chart positions really necessary? Nobody really cares where their cds got to in the charts. VenomousConcept (talk) 09:53, 3 September 2011 (UTC)[reply]

Timeline[edit]

Based on separate album articles, I came to the conclusion that Anselmo's role as a guitar player is not that big to mark him like that in the timeline. According to those articles, he has guitar parts written but only for 3 songs. As a result, I removed it. — Preceding unsigned comment added by 213.191.23.26 (talk) 13:26, 9 July 2015 (UTC)[reply]

This is not a "supergroup" as defined. The only member who has even minor recognition is the lead singer, the rest of the group was not known before joining this group. The "supergroup" tag needs to be removed. If "supergroup" just meant the band was compiled from members of other bands, about 90% of the bands out there would be "supergroups". 70.171.185.237 (talk) 18:39, 27 March 2016 (UTC)[reply]

An editor has asked for this to be reassessed for GA quality. It clearly needs citations. @Burningclean: to see if anyone interested in fixing the article. AIRcorn (talk) 09:30, 25 March 2018 (UTC)[reply]
