Reddit mention
[edit]From Fogerty's 29 May 2013 Reddit AMA:
Down on the Corner, believe it or not, was kind of inspired by seeing an advertisement in the paper one day. It was an ad from Disney that said in great big letters "Winnie the Poo." Something in my brain said "Winnie the Poo and the Poo Boys." Obviously that was close to "Willy and the Poor Boys."

Ed Sullivan appearance
[edit]The article mentions a 1969 appearance on ed sullivan where they mimicked the appearance and instruments of Willy and the Poor Boys in the song. The 1969 ed sullivan appearance is on youtube and none of what is said about it seems to be accurate. There is another youtube video showing where they did "perform" in the guise of the fictional group in the song, according to unreliable youtube comments it was a show called "Music Scene" with Cass Elliot guest hosting. Also it's worth pointing out it's obviously prerecorded and they aren't "playing" any of those instruments. — Preceding unsigned comment added by 72.191.224.97 (talk) 17:51, 24 October 2020 (UTC)
