Citation request[edit]

I have removed the "citation needed tag". Wikipedia:Manual of Style (biographies)#Academic titles states that titles cannot me added to people without proof. I totally agree with that. But it is not applicable here. The name of the organisation is Dr. Syamaprasad Jana Jagaran Manch (see reference) and there is nothing wrong with that. I am sure the people who founded this party did not know about MoS :) - Aksi_great (talk - review me) 18:37, 14 August 2006 (UTC)[reply]

  • Please check the edit history. I did not remove "Dr" from the name of the organization but rather from "Dr. Syama Prasad Mookerjee". The citation request was added to the assertion: "The forum is named after Syama Prasad Mookerjee, the founder of Bharatiya Jana Sangh." -Medtopic 18:55, 14 August 2006 (UTC)[reply]
If you just take the effort of clicking on the wikilinks Syama Prasad Mookerjee or Bharatiya Jana Sangh then you will find your proof. - Aksi_great (talk - review me) 19:08, 14 August 2006 (UTC)[reply]
I've taken the effort. Still makes no sense to me. "Jagaran" or "Manch" does not appear on either of those pages. See question below. -Medtopic 19:22, 14 August 2006 (UTC)[reply]
But why are you looking for Jagran or Manch on those pages? Obviously you won't find them there. That's the name of this party. They decided to call it "Jana Jagaran Manch" and to honour Dr. Syamaprasad they called it "Dr. Syamaprasad Jana Jagaran Manch". I asked you to look into those articles for proof of "The forum is named after Syama Prasad Mookerjee, the founder of Bharatiya Jana Sangh." which was your reason for adding the cite-required tag. - Aksi_great (talk - review me) 19:34, 14 August 2006 (UTC)[reply]
Let me clarify: I do not question that Syama Prasad Mookerjee was the founder of Bharatiya Jana Sangh. You implied that there was something to be found on those two pages that would indicate that Dr. Syamaprasad Jana Jagaran Manch was named after, or to honor, Syama Prasad Mookerjee. Not only is that specific assertion not mentioned on those pages, there is thus far been nothing provided to support the assertion per WP:V and WP:RS. That is the reason for inserting {{fact}}. "Syama", "Prasad", and "Jana" are mentioned on the two pages you mentioned, but "Jagaran" and "Manch" were not. As an English-only speaker unfamiliar with Indian languages and naming conventions, I did not know whether "Jana Jagran March" referred to part of Syama Prasad Mookerjee's name or something entirely different. Assuming that I'm not the only non-Indian trouble by this, this is exactly why references and citations are and should be required. -Medtopic 20:36, 14 August 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Naming conventions[edit]

Incidentally, for those of us not familiar with Indian naming conventions, what is the "Jana Jagaran Manch" part of "Dr. Syamaprasad Jana Jagaran Manch"? -Medtopic 19:02, 14 August 2006 (UTC)[reply]

And as far as I know Jana Jagran Manch means "A Platform for the awakening of the people". - Aksi_great (talk - review me) 19:35, 14 August 2006 (UTC)[reply]
