Drawn butter sauce and ghee[edit]

Clearly "drawn butter sauce" is not drawn butter anymore than "drawn butter ice cream" or "drawn butter cookies" are drawn butter.

Ghee is also not the same thing as drawn butter. Ghee is cooked longer than clarified butter to develop a nutty flavor. --Ericjs (talk) 05:33, 1 March 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Any butter can be cooked to develop a nutty flavour - e.g. "noisette"--Richardson mcphillips (talk) 22:03, 12 August 2017 (UTC)[reply]

The Ghee / Drawn Butter comparison should be on the article page. 203.122.243.3 (talk) 01:09, 24 November 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Drawn butter is specifically warm, melted butter served as a sauce at table. Ghee, clarified butter, and smen are butter products which can be stored at room temperature, are used in the kitchen for cooking, and are not normally found at table. The name also refers to the product itself, and not whether it is cold or hot, solid or liquid. All these things are in the Butter category, but they're not that similar. If anything, the prepared butters are more akin to lard or shortening, and drawn butter is more akin to olive oil, as it is used as a condiment at table. --Macrakis (talk) 23:28, 12 August 2017 (UTC)[reply]

Why "drawn?"[edit]

There should be an explanation why the adjective "drawn" is used.Tvbanfield (talk) 17:46, 20 April 2014 (UTC)[reply]
