Claimed inspiration for the film[edit]

I just came across this Wikipedia page about this old film. As I was well acquainted with the film and some context decades ago, I just thought it very interesting by its absence that there is no mention of that the film was said to have been inspired by a real, secret, government (so-called "black op") project called, I think I recollect, Project Dreamscan.

I have not much recent acquaintance with the subject, or this film, and am not about to re-edit the page to include this. But, from memory of over 30 years ago, the theme of a real project was kind of crucial to the making of this film somehow. It would be good, if anyone is more aware of this currently, to add details.

Of course, as all such real projects, from MK Ultra on (and before) are top secret, it can only be a hearsay subject in itself. But that fact in itself, I believe, was a major reason why the topic was chosen to be presented in the immediate sphere of film, where it can have great impact and no proof (which may never be forthcoming) is needed to validate what is presented anyway as fiction in itself, however real its inspiration. — Preceding unsigned comment added by 80.4.66.236 (talk) 03:54, 2 February 2018 (UTC)[reply]
