Overall:
Pass/Fail:

Just a few things to clean up in the article:

  • "On 1 July 2006, Mertens officially signed for AGOVV Apeldoorn, also dissolved as of 2013, on a season-long loan with the option of purchase." Just say that the club dissolved in 2013.
  • "Such was his influence that Mertens was named new club captain for the 2008–09 Eerste Divisie season." Since it seems the first sentence of the next paragraph relates to this, I'd consider making this sentence the lead for the second paragraph, or even just merge the two into one larger paragraph. As it stands it makes things slightly unclear.
  • "Mertens' two-season spell in Utrecht yielded 21 goals for the Belgian in 86 appearances across all competitions." Don't need the use of "the Belgian" here; it's clear who is being discussed.
  • Five of the paragraphs open with a date (On 1 July, 2006, for example). Try to avoid that, as it gets repetitive. Comment: Only one opens with a date now.
  • "Mertens added to his silverware" is a phrase used twice within three paragraphs. I'd suggest trying to switch the wording up a bit.
  • "On 4 February 2017, Mertens and Hamšík both scored hat-tricks in a 7–1 win over Bologna, a result which saw Napoli score seven away goals in a match for the first time in the club's history." This one-sentence paragraph could probably just be added to the prior one, seeing how they both relate to the same season.
  • "On 1 October 2010, Mertens received his first senior call-up..." The wording here suggests he played internationally as a junior, and the infobox also says he had 4 games for the Belgian U17 team. That seems like something worth adding to the article, even if its just a quick line.
  • The two paragraphs in the AGOVV section don't have citations at the end, which is more important for the line about him being named captain. Comment: Added citation to him being named captain. The concluding paragraph is a simple roundup of his time at the club. The figures are substantiated in the career statistics table below.
  • "It would be his final season in the Eredivisie, however, as at the conclusion of the campaign PSV accepted an offer from Serie A side Napoli for his signature." Has no citation to support this.

Once these are taken care of, it should be good. Kaiser matias (talk) 19:49, 6 March 2017 (UTC)[reply]
