Notability exists[edit]

Whenever a page is created about an upcoming Bollywood movie which is not released yet but the shooting is going on , and will release within one year : immediately someone puts the page under deletion criteria. This happened before in case of PK (film) also.--C E (talk) 04:45, 13 April 2015 (UTC)[reply]

At the time this article was AfDed, there were insufficient sources confirming that principal photography had begun. There was a source that said it would begin, but that's not sufficient to establish notability per WP:NFF Cyphoidbomb (talk) 04:54, 13 April 2015 (UTC)[reply]

Cast reordering[edit]

In this edit an IP user reordered some cast members without an explanation. Per MOS:FILM the cast should be ordered per the billing block on the theatrical poster, however Bollywood films don't typically use Western-style billing blocks. Any ideas how we should list the cast? Alphabetically? Something else? Cyphoidbomb (talk) 22:19, 19 April 2015 (UTC)[reply]

According to prominence of roles:::Ajay Devgan comes first , followed by Tabu , Shriya , Rajat Kapoor and the rest.--C E (talk) 13:25, 22 April 2015 (UTC)[reply]
@CosmicEmperor: That seems both interpretive and speculative to me. Interpretive because we are relying on our own judgment to determine prominence, and speculative, since the movie hasn't been released yet. We should be using something more objective than this, like a theatrical poster, or the film's actual credits. Cyphoidbomb (talk) 19:21, 22 April 2015 (UTC)[reply]
I have watched the original Drishyam movie. --C E (talk) 01:25, 23 April 2015 (UTC)[reply]
Okay, but you haven't addressed my argument. My argument is that projecting role "prominence" would be interpretive even if it was based on the Hindi version of Drishyam. It's additionally speculative because the film hasn't even been released yet, so you're predicting role prominence, contravening WP:CRYSTAL. Unless you have an argument that is centered on objective facts, I think the cast should be alphabetized or ordered per some existing, specific source that we all agree upon. Semi-protected edit request on 2 August 2015[edit]

Mrinal Jadhav, who essays a cute, and impactful Anu Salgaonkar (Vijay Salgaonkar's younger daughter) should be included in the "Starring" section within the infobox, as well as the Cast section. She's even in the poster! — Preceding unsigned comment added by 123.238.25.73 (talkcontribs)

Not done: We should only include "stars" in the "starring" parameter. That is, people who are credited with "starring" roles. "Starring" does not mean "appears in". So unless you can demonstrate that this person has received a "starring" credit, this request will be declined. Cyphoidbomb (talk) 21:00, 2 August 2015 (UTC)[reply]

Box office[edit]

The film started off slowly with 40–45% seating and picked up about 30% due to words of mouth. Drishyam has received good review and critics. Drishyam earned 40 crore (US$5.0 million) in its opening weekend in India. 125.16.17.145 (talk) 04:29, 3 August 2015 (UTC)[reply]

India[edit]

Drishyam grossed 8.05 crore (US$1.0 million) on the first day of its release in India. It went on to gross 9.4 crore (US$1.2 million) on Saturday and 12.58 crore (US$1.6 million) on first Sunday to take the first weekend total to 30.03 crore (US$3.8 million). By it's 5th day, the film had grossed more than 38.58 crore (US$4.8 million).[1] [2]

Overseas[edit]

Drishyam has performed decently in the overseas markets collecting 8.0 crore (US$1.0 million) in its opening weekend.[3] By it's 5th day, the film had grossed more than 10.52 crore (US$1.3 million) in Overseas Market. SaraswaT VaruN (talk) 12:54, 5 August 2015 (UTC)[reply]

Most of this content is already in the article. I've added some of the overseas data. I didn't add the last part because I couldn't find "10.52" in the BollywoodHungama reference. Cyphoidbomb (talk) 19:23, 5 August 2015 (UTC)[reply]

Removal of problematic content.[edit]

In this edit I removed some problematic content. For starters, there is no WikiProject Film community consensus for the inclusion of a review ratings table in film articles. We already have ample reviews that convey this information. The table is redundant and selective and comes off as totally promotional since there has been no effort to balance the praise with negative criticism. I have once again removed the IMDb user ratings, which I'm guessing were resubmitted by SaraswaT VaruN after logging out since he's the one who submitted the fluff to begin with. IMDB ratings are contributed by users. The film community doesn't care what a bunch of internet cranks have to say about a film. That's why we don't include user reviews. The only exception to this, is that we can use CinemaScore's ratings, since CinemaScore has a more scientific method for gauging audience response other than "Click here". I've also removed the claim that the film was based on Devotion X. Even though it's probably based on that film, that has not been established, say, through a court case, so it's speculative and potentially defamatory. I also removed an unsourced Ravindra Singh review for being unsourced. We have ample positive reviews in the article. Now's the time to start balancing all the gushing praise with valid criticism. WP:NPOV and all... Cyphoidbomb (talk) 18:09, 11 August 2015 (UTC)[reply]

Balanced perspective[edit]

In this edit I have tried to bring some balance to the critical response section, which apparently consists entirely of cherrypicked, glowing reviews submitted by SaraswaT VaruN. I think we're relying too heavily on quotations instead of prose, and we need to balance all the praise with fair amounts of critcism. This is another reason why the review rating table he added is problematic—it serves only to highlight the really positive reviews he has selected. Cyphoidbomb (talk) 19:28, 11 August 2015 (UTC)[reply]

Also in these edits I added a negative review about the pacing to balance the effusive praise about the pacing. I had to fix a problem with one of the ratings. Someone claimed it was 4 1/2 out of 5 stars. It was 3 1/2. That review is a weird one because the rating is slightly better than average, but the writer was ridiculously effusive about how amazing the film is. Semi-protected edit request on 27 September 2015[edit]

Please change "Internationally, the film collected ₹3.68 crore (US$560,000) in seven weeks" to "Internationally, the film collected ₹17 crore in 28 days"

src:[1] 3.68 crore seems too less since the movie was running in foreign theaters for almost a month.

Potential sequel[edit]

After Drishyam 2 released in malayalam, is there a chance that it too would be remade in hindi? Samudragupta007 (talk) 19:51, 15 April 2021 (UTC)[reply]
