Some notes[edit]

Laws of the game, given since June 1st, 2016, say that the Referee should not determine who has to take part or to play the ball at first (besides all that, that in any case all players, maybe 22, could take part). This clarifications may be seen first in context with dropped balls after injuries. The number of dropped balls due to injuries raised or increased in the last years (other fair plays – ball is shot out of the field of play – are recorded since 1992), and it was a matter of course that the team that was involved with the injury could take the ball. The manner of the referees was equal but at last it led to a clash which implied that they would help one of the 2 teams so it seemed that they were not impartial. According to the latest laws, referees now invites one player (or more) of each team to take part. According to those concessions, in the main-parts the procedure occures like before but that's a different kettle of fish...

Another change of the laws says that up to now two players had to touch the ball after correct re-start in order to score a goal. It may be that this change is a late answer to unfair actions or to avoid unwanted goals (perhaps own goals). Regarding unfairness there was a player named Luiz Adriano who played for Shakhtar Donetsk: On November 20th, 2012, in the Champions League away match versus FC Nordsjælland (Danmark), he pounced into a pass intended to return the ball to the Danish team by his team mate Willian - after a dropped ball. One Danish player was injured, Danish team led 1-0. Adriano rounded the Nordsjaelland goalkeeper and finished into an empty net. Referee Antony Gautier from France had no other opportunity as to allow the goal. The match finished with a 5-2-victory for Donetzk. The UEFA banned Adriano - for his being unfair - with one match. --213.225.15.186 (talk) 17:29, 25 November 2016 (UTC).[reply]
